The members of METALLICA were asked in the latest issue of Q magazine if they were "Beliebers" — a.k.a. fans of pop singer Justin Bieber — after Bieber recently claimed that the METALLICA songs "One" and "Fade To Black" were his "jams." Frontman James Hetfield replied, "Are we Beliebers? Yes." while drummer Lars Ulrich offered: "Is it possible to have respect for him without being a Belieber? I think the kid's really talented and obviously to go through what he's going through at that early age must be a mindfuck. So the fact that he still goes out there and does it, I admire that and I think he's super talented, so I guess I am kind of a Belieber. If he likes 'One', and Liam Gallagher likes him, OK, there you go."
Bassist Robert Trujillo added: "As long as he stays out of trouble, I'll be a Belieber."
A backstage video of Justin Bieber performing an impromptu cover of METALLICA's "Fade To Black" can be seen below. The 15-second clip shows Bieber playing air guitar while he tries to recreate the guitar solo from the classic 1984 METALLICA track with his voice. Bieber is accompanied by his musical director Dan Kanter on guitar.
According to NME.com, Bieber previously revealed that he is a big fan of METALLICA, naming "Fade To Black" and 1988's "One" as two of his favorite METALLICA cuts. "Those are my jams," he told GQ last year. METALLICA's manager Peter Mensch, who has certainly seen more than his share of childish behavior, told the U.K. tabloid The Sun earlier this year that he would "take Bieber to the woodshed and spank him." Mensch was asked to comment on Bieber's recent bizarre behavior, who has reportedly seen the 19-year-old pop singer being caught speeding around his neighborhood and getting into altercations with neighbors.
The 60-year-old Mensch reportedly told The Sun that he has warned Bieber that his antics would ruin his career. "His manager Scooter Braun is scared shitless," said Mensch. "I don't know what Bieber's problem is. His career is over in three years anyway."

ROB ZOMBIE: Official 'We're An American Band' Video Released
The official video for Rob Zombie's cover version of GRAND FUNK RAILROAD's classic "We're An American Band" can be seen below.
Asked how they decided to cover "We're An American Band" for Zombie's latest album, "Venomous Rat Generation Vendor", Zombie guitarist John 5 told Live-Metal.net: "We were thinking about covers, and I can picture me and Rob talking about this. I was like, 'Yeah, what if we did this one or this one?' We were going back and forth for a little while, and Rob goes, 'Man, 'We're an American band.' And I was like, 'That's it. We have to do it, we have to do it.' And a cool part of that song is, in the original, there's a lyric that goes, 'Up all night with Freddie King, poker is his thing;' in the Rob Zombie version, it says, 'Up all night with Kerry King.' We kind of snuck that in, so the next time you listen to it, listen for Kerry King's name." Rob Zombie's fifth album, "Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor", sold 34,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 7 on The Billboard 200 chart. The record arrived in stores on April 23 via Zodiac Swan/T-Boy/Ume. The CD was produced by Bob Marlette, who has previously worked with everyone from BLACK SABBATH and ALICE COOPER to WILSON PHILLIPS and LYNYRD SKYNYRD. Rob Zombie will guest on the Halloween (Thursday, October 31) edition of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" Watch as "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" celebrates the spooky holiday in costume with the show's "Half & Half Halloween Pageant", guest Ray Romano and a musical performance from Rob Zombie. Rob and his band will perform two songs on the show's outdoor stage in front of a standing-room-only crowd.
Each year, Jimmy has dressed up as a different character — Donkey Kong, Big Bird, Thor, Count Chocula, an oversized version of himself, a ghost, and he has even hosted the show just as his severed head. Tune in to find out what Jimmy Kimmel will dress up as this year. "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m./10:35 p.m. CT on the ABC television network. The event is being held every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday through November 2 at FEARPlex in Pomona, California with 15 nights of music, culminating with a November 2 headlining performance by Zombie himself.
The centerpiece is one of the most advanced haunted house attractions in the world, with three separate areas each named after a film directed by Zombie.
Slash Says He Enjoys Celebrating Halloween with His Kids
Besides being a scary good musician, Slash enjoys a good scare himself, which is why he launched the Slasher Films production company that specializes in producing fright flicks. Not surprisingly, the ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist also is a fan of Halloween, admitting that he and his family usually fully embrace the spooky holiday.
He tells ABC News Radio that his two kids, who are ages nine and 11, love to dress up for the holiday.
"Every October, we start looking at all the different Halloween outfits and costumes," Slash reveals. "And we traditionally overdecorate the house."
He also says that he usually throws a big Halloween bash, but admits that "there's been so much going on this year that I don't really feel like doing the whole party thing."
The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer says that the rest of his neighborhood also gets into the Halloween spirit.
"Everybody brings their kids over to our community and there's this huge Halloween [trick-or-treat excursion]," says Slash, adding that he accompanies his kids to the local houses and will wait at the curb as they go collect goodies.
As much as his children enjoy the holiday, Slash reveals that one Halloween-related attraction he recently brought them to proved to be a bit too scary.
"I just took my kids to Universal's Halloween [Horror] Nights…and we got to the front gates and they were like, 'Uh-uh. We're not going in there,'" he says with a laugh. "[I] was like, 'Are you kidding me? We came all the way down here. You invited your friends. We're all here.' And they're like, 'Uh-uh. We're not going in.'"
Slash explains that the attraction, which includes a Black Sabbath-themed maze, with its "chainsaws and all the metal music and the volume" proved "too ominous for them."
Incidentally, among the things that have been keeping the rocker busy in 2013 are the promotion of the recently released the debut Slasher Films offering, Nothing Left to Fear, and work on a new album.

Marilyn Manson Tells Not-So-Spooky Halloween Stories in New "Funny or Die" Video
Marilyn Manson proves that he’s not the greatest Halloween storyteller in a hilarious new "Funny or Die" video. Titled “Are These Tales Spooky to You?,” the 23-minute clip -- which is definitely not safe for viewing at work -- features the singer telling five scary stories so he can join the Inner Circle of the Scary Storytellers Crew, a group a kids who are obsessed with frightening tales.
Manson’s first story is about a group of people who have to deal with the delicate issue of how to dispose of a horde of Jewish zombies, while his second tale profiles a family that makes friends with a pair of ghosts that are haunting their house. The singer then tells a story about a woman who is attempting to give makeup lessons despite her being possessed by an angry demon, and continues with a tale about a man who is forced to realize he’s really a trumpet pretending to be human. Manson finishes things off with a yarn about three high-school boys in a locker room who are being haunted by a demon from hell.
In the end, the singer’s stories don’t seem to impress the kids, so they wind up killing Manson and bonding over a meal of hot dogs.

Jack White Collaborates with Elton John on Soundtrack for BBC Documentary Miniseries
Elton John has let slip that he recently recorded a song with Jack White for a new documentary miniseries for the BBC. Titled American Epic, the six-episode program profiles blues artists of the 1930s and features contemporary musicians recording on vintage equipment.
While the legendary pop singer didn’t give many details about the track he made with White, he did reveal the history behind the equipment they recorded on. “I got to use the original machine from 1934 that Bessie Smith and Louis Armstrong recorded on, and I wrote a special song with Bernie [Taupin], and Jack White played on it,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “So it went straight to analog. That was a lot of fun.”
White's love of blues music recently drove him to put together a massive box set which includes around 100 sides from the now-defunct label Paramount Records, best known for its recordings of African-American jazz and blues in the 1920s and early 1930s. Titled The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records, Volume One (1917-1927), the package will be available starting November 19 at Third Man Records. A second volume of releases from Paramount Records will be released sometime next year.

Lou Reed's Music Sales Soar After His Death
Lou Reed influenced and inspired countless of popular musicians over the years, although he had relatively little commercial success during his lifetime. However, the edgy singer/songwriter's death on Sunday at the age of 71, has resulted in a major increase in sales of his back catalog. Billboard reports that, according to Nielsen SoundScan, Reed sold a total of 3,000 albums during the sales week ending this past Sunday, marking a 607-percent spike from the previous week. In addition, Lou's old band The Velvet Underground also sold about 3,000 albums last week -- a 236-percent increase from the week before.
The individual Reed-associated albums that sold the best last week were 1972's Transformer and The Velvets' 1967 debut, The Velvet Underground & Nico, which each moved about 1,000 copies.
As for digital song sales, Lou and The Velvet Underground notched 17,000 and 5,000 downloads, respectively, seeing gains of 590 percent and 410 percent from the previous week.
The most downloaded single Reed track was, not surprisingly, 1972's "Walk on the Wild Side," which was Lou's only single ever to enter the top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. With 6,000 downloads, the track's sales improved by 729 percent from the week before. The song lands at No. 38 on Billboard's Rock Digital Songs tally.

Courtney Love Reveals Inspiration Behind “Wedding Day” Single; Talks Upcoming Memoir
For months now, Courtney Love has been promising she’ll be delivering a new single, “Wedding Day,” in December. Now, the singer has revealed that the upcoming cut was inspired by a recent breakup she experienced.
“I was really mad when I wrote that,” she tells Canadian magazine FASHION. “I got dumped, and [the lyric] ‘Break my neck on my wedding day’ just came out of me. I wondered about getting married. I’ve been asked twice before and said no. I just haven’t made that Jackie [Kennedy Onassis] move yet.”
Love addresses her troubled love life in her upcoming memoir, Courtney Love: My Story, noting she found a way to talk about her relationships without naming her past lovers. “I keep wanting to write this one chapter about a man that I was very much in love with but I just don’t want to name him,” she explains. “I used pseudonyms like Mr. Cat -- this guy who was a billionaire and our relationship ended weird.”
While Love’s memoir will be available for your Kindle device starting December 15, you shouldn’t expect the singer to bring her life’s story to the silver screen any time soon. “There will be no biopic on me,” she says. “I won’t let that happen. I still get hit on by guys because they want to be cast in that [late Nirvanafrontman] Kurt Cobain biopic that’s been in production for years. I could give you some [actors’] names that would blow your mind, but I am so not sleeping with someone under 38.”

Motörhead Postpones European Tour Until February 2014
Motörhead has suffered another setback: the band has postponed their upcoming European tour dates so frontman Lemmy Kilmister can recuperate from his recent health problems.
“We have made the decision [to postpone the tour] because I am not quite ready to hit the road yet, and am working my way back to full fitness and rude health,” the singer explains in a post on the band’s website. “Don't worry -- I'm not about to start promoting veganism and alcohol-free beverages, but it is fair to say that I personally have been reconfiguring areas of my life to make sure I can come back fitter and stronger than ever.”
Kilmister adds he expects to be back on the road with the band by February of 2014. “When people come to see a Motörhead tour, they expect a Motörhead show, and that is exactly what you will get as soon as I am fit and ready to rumble,” he writes. “Your patience and understanding is appreciated...and know that I'm getting stronger and stronger every day, so watch out next spring Europe and we will see you then.”
You may remember Motörhead canceled a number of their summer tour dates back in July because Kilmister was rumored to be suffering from a hematoma, which is an abnormal collection of blood localized around blood vessels, much like an internal bruise. News of the frontman’s alleged ailment came in the form of an announcement from Barley Arts Promotion, shortly after the band canceled their June 25 concert in Milan, Italy due to what the promoter said was “a severe hematoma which makes it impossible at the moment [for Kilmister to perform] on stage.”

Dropkick Murphys to Play at World Series Game 6 Tonight
Boston's Dropkick Murphys will be performing for their hometown fans before Game 6 of the World Series in Boston's Fenway Park tonight. The band with perform both the national anthem and their own local anthem, "I'm Shipping up to Boston," before the game between the hometown Red Sox and the St. Louis Cardinals.
The band has long had a relationship with Bosox. Their rendition of the turn-of-the-century Red Sox rally song “Tessie” became the theme song for the team's 2004 World Series win, and the band has made numerous appearances at Red Sox games. In fact, they played earlier this month at the clinching game of the American League Championship Series.
One might even say that Dropkick Murphys are something of a good-luck charm for the Red Sox, who have a perfect record in games when the band has appeared. The Red Sox are one win away from a championship.

Guitarist Zoltan Bathory Says 5FDP Removed Collaboration Tracks from Second Installment of The Wrong Side of Heaven
Five Finger Death Punch fans who enjoyed the group’s collaborations with a number of heavy metal rockers -- including Judas Priest frontman Rob Halford -- on the first installment of the band's double album The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell, are in for a shock.
Guitarist Zoltan Bathory, who previously said the group recorded more songs with guest stars for the second volume of the release, has now revealed the band decided not to include those tracks on the upcoming album.
“We recorded a couple of songs with guests, and then before the record actually went out to the manufacturing we decided to keep those off the record,” he tells ABC News Radio. “The first one everybody was interested in, everybody was happy about it, but you know, repeating the same thing, we don’t want it to become a gimmick, so actually we decided against it.”
Even though the guest tracks aren't on the album, Bathory isn’t revealing any of the names of the guest singers just yet, though he notes they're names fans will know. “They are definitely from our world, you know, we reached out to people that are our friends, so the guests are all hard rock, heavy metal vocalists,” he explains.
Part of the reason he's holding back is that he expects at least some of those tracks to see the light of day some time in the near future. “They’re gonna be coming out on special occasions on movie soundtracks and maybe computer games. Different places, different songs,” he says. The Wrong Side of Heaven and the Righteous Side of Hell Volume 2 will arrive in stores on November 19.

Shinedown Showcases Carnival of Madness Tour in "Adrenaline" Video
The Carnival of Madness Tour may be over, but now you can relive the magic in the video for "Adrenaline," Shinedown’s latest single from 2012’s Amaryllis.
The three-minute clip, which can be viewed at Billboard.com, features footage of the group performing the track during their headlining set on the Carnival of Madness Tour. In addition, the video includes clips of fire dancers and the massive pyrotechnics display the guys used during the trek.
Frontman Brent Smith says the video was culled from footage recorded by Rob Fenn, who was “constantly filming, taking pictures, and documenting the reinvention of the tour.”
"We had such an amazing time seeing all of our fans out on the road that we thought: what better way to present the video for our fifth single off of Amaryllis than incorporating all the footage [Fenn] captured?” he tells Billboard. “We hope the fans love it as much as we do."
According to The Pulse Of Radio, there's been some movement on the TOOL front regarding the band's long-awaited fifth studio album. The person inside the TOOL circle who usually posts news at the band's official web site has published a somewhat lengthy new update, in which he writes, "A couple of weeks ago I visited the TOOL loft to try and get some kind of idea as to how things were progressing with the writing sessions now that the band was back hard at it. Well, I am happy to report that there has indeed been a lot of progress as far as new material goes, especially with the lengthy so-called 'epic' piece that the guys have been arranging for quite some time now."
The post continues that before the band put on their instruments, everyone in the room listened to the demos they had recorded at the previous session. The insider writes, "Judging from the smiles on their faces, it seemed that, for the most part, (the band members) liked very much what they were hearing and that after some finishing touches, the 'epic' tune would be ready for Maynard (James Keenan, vocals) to do his thing."
The writer adds that the "epic" song contains "complex time signatures, interesting harmonic structure and expanding effects processing — similar to what fans of TOOL have come to expect — only now, perhaps not surprisingly, the band has taken it to the next level."
In conclusion, however, the post says, "Please note that I am NOT suggesting in any way that the band is ready to go into the studio any time soon. I honestly have no idea as far as any recording timetables go."
The writer also indicates that he has no idea of how many other songs are near completion musically, or where Keenan stands with his vocals and lyrics. Keenan told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that fans shouldn't believe everything they read online about the record. "We normally don't say anything about anything until it's actually happening, because there's a lot of people online that apparently can't read very well," he said. "I put an April Fool's notice up there for the album release, and it was 2011, I said, 'New TOOL album, such-and-such a date, 2009, and everybody ran around like, 'Oh, really, the new TOOL --?' God, you guys are dumb. I swear to God. You've got to read. Please, read."
Back in September, Keenan teased new TOOL music for 2014 via a post at his Instagram account. TOOL has not released an album since 2006's "10,000 Days".
Drummer Danny Carey told Loudwire in July that Keenan had not yet started working with the rest of the group at that point, saying, "It's still the three of us right now and four of us it will be soon."
ROB ZOMBIE Wants His Haunted House To Freak People Out
According to The Pulse Of Radio, Rob Zombie spoke with Loudwire about his Great American Nightmare horror and music exhibition, which is running through next Saturday (November 2) at FEARPlex in Pomona, California and is billed as one of the most advanced haunted house attractions in the world. Zombie said he's been pleased with the response to the attraction so far, explaining, "I've heard from a lot of people that have been totally freaked out and that was exactly the intention. People that design haunted houses for a living will tell you that many customers try and play it cool when they go through and act like it's not getting to them . . . Knowing that, it made me really want to push things so that even the guys playing it cool would have a least one breakdown going through."
Despite the attraction's success, however, Zombie is doubtful whether something like the Great American Nightmare could stay open all year, saying, "I'm not really sure it could sustain over a year . . . When Halloween comes around, people are really ready to be freaked out. But in the summer time and Christmas time, I'm just not sure a Halloween attraction would be successful." Zombie told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that the neighborhood where he lives goes crazy for Halloween every year. "The neighborhood we live in is like trick or treaters central — literally we get thousands, which always sounds like an exaggeration, but it's not," he said. "You know, one year I counted how many trick or treaters we got, 'cause I knew how much candy we had, 'cause I actually counted it. And as I gave it out, I kept track just out of curiosity. And when it went over a thousand kids, I just locked the door and turned the lights off. I couldn't take it anymore. The whole neighborhood shuts down, it's the most insane thing I've ever seen." Zombie may be home for Halloween this year, but he and KORN will kick off their co-headlining "Night Of The Living Dreads" tour a few days later on November 3 in Reno, Nevada. Zombie has been touring in support of his latest album, "Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor", which came out last April. Zombie's Great American Nightmare recreates some of the most infamous crime scenes in history and one in particular continues to fascinate the singer and filmmaker. He explained, "For me, anything having to do with what happened with Charles Manson is really compelling . . . When I moved to L.A. in 1991, one of the first places I went to was the house on Cielo Drive, where the Tate murders were committed, before they tore the house down. Anything place I could find in the book 'Helter-Skelter', I would visit. I still have not been out to the site in Death Valley where they were arrested but one day if somebody can take me right there, I would happily go along." Rob Zombie has added a second headlining performance and charity auction to his Great American Nightmare attraction. The newly added date will take place on November 1. Zombie will also be playing the November 2 headlining show, with tickets currently available at the Great American Nightmare web site.
The charity auction, meanwhile, is running from now through November 2 and the prize item is Zombie's custom macabre-style 1967 Ford F-100 truck. All proceeds from the auction will go to The Puppy Rescue Mission.
Lou Reed Dead at 71, Celebrities React
Lou Reed, best known as the leader of the pioneering rock band The Velvet Underground and, later, for the solo hit "Walk on the Wild Side," died on Sunday at age 71.
Reed's publicist confirmed the death to ABC News Radio, though no cause of death was given. The New York Timeslater reported that Reed died of liver disease; he'd had a liver transplant in May, and the operation had forced him to cancel a series of California shows, as well as scheduled appearances at the Coachella festival. Reed said at the time, "I am a triumph of modern medicine, physics and chemistry. I am bigger and stronger than ever...I look forward to being on stage performing, and writing more songs to connect with your hearts and spirits and the universe well into the future."
Lou Reed started his music career as a staff songwriter for Pickwick Records. In the mid-sixties, he and John Cale started the band that would become the Velvet Underground. Artist Andy Warhol took the band under his wing and made them part of his art collective. He designed the cover of their first album,The Velvet Underground and Nico, and was also credited as a producer. While the disc was ignored when it was released in 1967, it now stands as a landmark recording, depicting a seedy underworld of sex, drugs and rock 'n roll that was startling in its frankness and pioneering in its sound The band's subsequent recordings included songs now hailed as classics: "White Light/White Heat," "Rock & Roll," "Sweet Jane," "I'm Waiting for the Man," "Heroin" and others.
Reed's solo career took off with the landmark album Transformer, in 1972. It featured "Walk on the Wild Side," a depiction of the denizens of Warhol's infamous "Factory," and it became a hit despite its references to oral sex. Reed's solo career varied wildly, as he created everything from noise rock, soul music, pop to straight ahead rock, though he continued to write about edgy topics like suicide, sex and drug addiction; he also incorporated social commentary into his work with albums like 1989's New York. In 1991, he re-teamed with John Cale for Songs for Drella, a tribute to Warhol, and later in the nineties, the Velvet Underground reunited for some European shows.
Reed married performance artist Laurie Anderson, who he'd been with since the nineties, in 2008. He continued to release solo albums; in 2011, he unexpectedly collaborated with Metallica on the albumLulu.
In 1996, Reed was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of The Velvet Underground. He has yet to be inducted as a solo artist.
John Cale, Reed's Velvet Underground bandmate, wrote on Facebook, "The world has lost a fine songwriter and poet…I’ve lost my ‘school-yard buddy.'"
Velvet Underground drummer Moe Tucker described his relationship with Reed to ABC News Radio in this way: "I always loved Lou. He could be irritable, that's for sure, but he was never, ever irritable to me."(TUCKER, DECURTIS AND VOZICK LEVINSON AUDIO IS ABC 1-ON-1) Meanwhile, musicians of every genre as well as other celebrities took to Twitter to talk about how Reed's passing had impacted them. Here's a roundup of some of their comments: The Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea: I love Lou reed so much. Always Justin Timberlake: #RIPLouReed KISS' Paul Stanley: RIP Lou Reed. Korn’s Fieldy Unveils Plans to Release Instrumental Solo Album, Basically
Korn bassist Reginald Arvizu, a.k.a. Fieldy, has revealed he’s been working on a new solo project. The upcoming release will be an album of instrumentals, which will feature the bassist experimenting with a variety of styles and genres.
“I did, like, 20 songs for a bass solo album, the title is called Basically,” he tells ABC News Radio. “I played stand-up basses, fretless basses, I got a 15-string bass. And we did some cool things, like, because we wanna be different. I did from jazz fusion, funk, Latin, blues, you know, lead basses, layering basses and it just takes you on this musical journey.”
While most of Basically will feature Fieldy being backed up by a drum machine, the record will include guest appearances by Korn drummer Ray Luzier on a few of the cuts. The drummer notes he found some inventive ways to create drum tracks for the upcoming album.
“I did some made-up percussion stuff, like we’d literally have a cup full of, like, change and seashells and I’d shake it,” Luzier tells ABC News Radio. “And then…backstage [at a Korn show] we recorded a drum track, I pulled a floor tom off my kit and a snare and a hi-hat and it's come out way better than…we thought.”
While a release date for Basically has yet to be announced, Fieldy notes that all the tracks have been recorded and he hopes to release the album soon.

Jack White Says New Paramount Records Box Set Isn’t About Making a Profit
Next month, Jack White’s Third Man Records will release a massive box set which includes around 100 sides from the now-defunct record label Paramount Records, best known for its recordings of African-American jazz and blues in the 1920s and early 1930s. Titled The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records, Volume One (1917-1927), the package runs $400 and is limited to 5,000 copies.
While the ex-White Stripes singer says he’ll need to sell about 4,000 of the sets to cover the production costs, he’s not looking to make money off the project. "Everything we do, it's never to make a dollar," he tells Rolling Stone. "It's always to make something exist. And we end up paying the bills that way, because other people want to experience those things too."
White adds the music recorded by Paramount Records captures the evolution of a “whole story of American culture” and shouldn’t be dismissed. “It's every idea you can imagine -- a forgotten artist no one cares about, mixed with a failing business, then the Great Depression, the materials people used to build things,” he explains. The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records, Volume One (1917-1927) will be available starting November 19, but you’ll be able to pre-order the set at Third Man Records on Tuesday. A second volume of releases from Paramount Records will be released sometime next year.

Chris Cornell, Alabama Shakes Featured on 12 Years a Slave Soundtrack
Chris Cornell and Alabama Shakes are among the artists contributing tracks the official soundtrack album inspired by the upcoming drama, 12 Years a Slave.
The Soundgarden frontman has written an original song called “Misery Chain” for the project, which includes some additional vocals by singer/songwriter Joy Williams. Cornell says he was inspired to write “a hundred different songs” for the album, but settled on “Misery Chain.”
“I was moved by this film and the story in a way that transcends any film experience I have ever had,” he explains in a statement. “Compassion, basic human rights and love must be our priorities above race, religion or commerce. Every generation needs a reminder of that simple idea.” Alabama Shakes chose to cover a classic jazz track for the release, "Driva' Man," because of its central message. “There is no lightness in the music of ‘Driva' Man’ because there is no mention of freedom in this song,” says frontwoman Brittany Howard in a statement. “The focus of the track is about an enslaved person reaching ‘quittin' time’ while also trying to please the overseer to avoid getting beaten. 12 Years is one of the most important films we have ever seen and it is important to us to give back some of what the movie has given to us.”
The soundtrack album will be released digitally on November 5, followed by a physical release on November 19.

Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong Teams with Norah Jones for Everly Brothers Tribute Album
Green Day’s Billie Joe Armstrong and singer/songwriter Norah Jones have lent their talents to a new album paying homage to The Everly Brothers. Titled Foreverly, the release features the pair covering all the songs from the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer’s second album, 1958’s Songs Our Daddy Taught Us.
Armstrong says he wanted to remake the album so he could expose the songs to a new audience. “I got into the Everly Brothers’ record a couple years ago and I thought it was just beautiful,” he tellsStereogum.com. “I was listening to it every morning for a while off and on. I thought it would be cool to remake the record because I thought it was sort of an obscure thing and more people should know about it.”
The singer adds he wanted to change the sound of the songs by recruiting Jones for the project, with whom he struck up a friendship after they performed together with Stevie Wonder and his band during the 2005 Grammy Awards.
“I really wanted to do it with a woman singing because I thought it would take on a different meaning -- maybe broaden the meaning a little bit -- as compared to hearing the songs being sung by the two brothers,” Armstrong explains. “We had Stevie Wonder in common…so I called her and she said yes. So it was kinda like…a blind date.” Foreverly will be released on 11/25 on Reprise Records. You can now check out a preview of a cut from the release, “Long Time Gone,” at Warner Brothers Records' Soundcloud page.
Here's the track list:
“Long Time Gone”
“Silver Haired Daddy of Mine”
“Down in the Willow Garden”
“Who’s Gonna Shoe Your Pretty Little Feet”
“Oh So Many Years”
“Rockin’ Alone (In an Old Rocking Chair)”
“I’m Here to Get My Baby Out of Jail”
“Put My Little Shoes Away”
'Through The Never' Cost More Than Combined Budgets Of All METALLICA Records To Date
According to Box Office Mojo, METALLICA's new 3D IMAX concert movie, "Metallica Through The Never", has taken in just $3.4 million at the box office as of October 20. The film reportedly cost more than $20 million to make, with the band putting up most of the money for the project.
A recent video documenting the making of "Through The Never" showed Peter Mensch, one of METALLICA's managers at Q Prime, discussing with the band ways to save $2 million in order to get the film's budget down to $30 million, according to Bloomberg.com.
"It depends on what you count," METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich said. "Are you counting the promotion, the marketing, the live record, the stage that we'll continue to use in future tours? This is way north of eight figures. It's a lot for us." Marc Reiter, who works for Q Prime, told METALLICA's fan club magazine So What! that the movie was the biggest single expense in the band's history, more than the combined budgets of all their records to date. Q Prime also invested an undisclosed amount in the film. Ulrich told The Quietus that he is not ready to write the film off as a flop. He explained, "That remains to be seen! Ask me when I come back and talk about the new record two years from now . . . I'm sure that if we don't make all the money back, then, I don't know, (we will in) T-shirt sales seven years down the line." Justin Bieber's "Never Say Never" is the highest-grossing concert movie ever with $73 million in the U.S., according to Box Office Mojo.
As previously reported, three different versions of "Metallica Through The Never" will be contained on the Blu-ray/DVD release of the film. In addition to the theatrical version, the disc will feature a separate cut of just the narrative portion of the film, which stars Dane DeHaan as a METALLICA roadie named Trip sent on a mission for the band in an increasingly dangerous urban landscape. The third cut will be just the footage of the band in concert, with three or four songs added that were not seen in the theatrical edition.
Trujillo told The Pulse Of Radio that director Nimród Antal was ready and willing to come up with a fictional story that would distinguish the movie from other concert films. "We interviewed quite a few directors, a lot of A-listers, and a lot of the directors thought we were crazy because it just was — it was a different approach to making a film," he said. "But Nimród literally, he was excited about the challenge and he went and prepared and wrote the thread basically, this storyline, and created the character Trip and this journey that could co-exist with the performance."
The standalone narrative footage from the movie will feature an all-new soundtrack composed by METALLICA and producer Greg Fidelman.
The package will also contain "'Tallica Parking Lot", an animated film created by Robert Trujillo and Titmouse Animation Studio.
A release date for the Blu-ray/DVD has yet to be announced.

Pearl Jam's Mike McCready Doesn't Let Crohn's Disease Stop Him
It's been 26 years since Pearl Jam's Mike McCready was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, a form ofinflammatory bowel disease. Clearly, he hasn't let the condition stop him. On Tuesday's Good Morning America, the guitarist said he has a few methods to help him cope.
"I have Crohn's Disease and that's something that has shadowed my existence since I was 21. You just gotta keep going on," McCready told ABC's Josh Elliott. "I've gotta keep being able to create. I've gotta be able to work out. I'm gotta be able to talk to other people that have it."
McCready also leans on his Pearl Jam bandmates for support. "We're all brothers first, I think, and businessmen and friends and we love each other," he explained. "And we fight and we have problems, but we respect each other enough hopefully that we confront each other on issues."
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' DEAN DELEO Says Things With SCOTT WEILAND Started Unraveling After First Album
Steven Rosen of Ultimate-Guitar.com recently conducted an interview with STONE TEMPLE PILOTS guitarist Dean DeLeo. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below. Ultimate-Guitar.com: Did you come to the realization a long time ago that either Scott Weiland had to get it together or it was going to end? Dean DeLeo: I think everyone did whatever they could. I'm talking wives, brothers, friends and everyone. Ultimate-Guitar.com: It was very sad because you made some remarkable records with Scott. He was truly a great singer and lyricist. Dean DeLeo: He absolutely was, man. His lyrics were (amazing). In my humble opinion and it's easy for me to be biased. Everything he brought forth when we were all kind of running on all pistons per se — and that didn't really last very long — but when we were up and runnin', I don't think there was anybody better, man. Ultimate-Guitar.com: How long did STP run on all pistons? Dean DeLeo: Well, the first record went off without a hitch. [laughs] Ultimate-Guitar.com: It started to unravel that long ago? Dean DeLeo: [pause] Yeah, yeah. Ultimate-Guitar.com: Ultimately Scott Weiland leaves the band and you're thinking, "What do we do now? Call Chester Bennington?" Dean DeLeo: Look, man, that's not an easy position to fill. I've come to terms long ago — I'm merely the guy that stands next to the singer. [laughs] Ultimate-Guitar.com: And the guy who writes all the songs. Dean DeLeo: Well, along with Robert. A lot of people don't know because they deem me as the guitar player but Robert's responsible for really the band's biggest songs. Robert wrote "Plush" and my brother is an incredible guitar player. He wrote everything on "Interstate Love Song" but the lyrics. He wrote that melody, that guitar line and the bass line and he may have even come up with the beat. I can't say enough about him — he's an extraordinary musician. Ultimate-Guitar.com: You obviously have a lot of respect for your brother. Dean DeLeo: When I come into a session it's kinda like where I need to be or I try to be. I wonder what Robert's gonna bring in and I gotta be like, "OK, well I know it's gonna be really great so I gotta be as good as that or beat it if I'm gonna have any songs on the record." So um, sorry, I got sidetracked with the question. [laughs] Ultimate-Guitar.com: I had asked you about Chester and what you were feeling when Scott left. Dean DeLeo: Oh, right. I dunno, man. It really wasn't talked about much. When we kinda came to the rude, rude reality that it couldn't go on the way it was, there was no one talked about. We really weren't in that place. Like we didn't really discuss it; there was nothing discussed. It was just we knew things couldn't go the way they were. That's what we did know. Ultimate-Guitar.com: When was Chester's name first brought up? Dean DeLeo: One day I just said, "I think Chester is the person to do this." Immediately Robert and I are going, "That is amazing."

METALLICA To Perform In Antarctica?
According to the Colombian web site of Coca-Cola Zero (the low-calorie variation of Coca-Cola), METALLICA will play a very special concert in Antarctica. The Coca-Cola-sponsored event will take place between December 2 and December 15 and will see the group performing on Earth's southernmost continent, about 98% of which is covered by ice that averages at least 1 mile (1.6 km) in thickness. METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich told a San Francisco radio station in an interview last month that the band has something coming up in December that will surprise fans. Asked what the group had in store for the immediate future, Ulrich explained, "There's a very interesting thing coming our way in December . . . There's another frontier heading in METALLICA's direction in December. Which, if anybody (at the band's management) even knew that I just said what I just said, they would hunt me down and silence me. But there is another frontier coming in December, which we're very excited about."
The first rock concert ever performed in Antarctica took place on July 7, 2007 at British Antarctic Survey's (BAS) Rothera Research Station, one in a series of Live Earth concerts that were held on the same day in all seven continents. The science team's indie-rock house band NUNATAK performed as the lone act. NUNATAK's concert, though performed in front of only 17 people, was broadcast all over the world. Coca-Cola became the first corporation to participate in an expedition to Antarctica. Each year an international group of Coca-Cola employees and bottlers join the expedition and embark on a journey of inspirational leadership and teamwork.
Over the years the Coca-Cola employees have supported the design and building of the worl's first education station in Antarctica, The E-Base.

According to The Pulse Of Radio, Marilyn Manson is joining the cast of the hit ABC TV series "Once Upon A Time". Manson will provide the voice for The Shadow, a being which was first seen at the end of the show's second season and has already appeared in the recently started third year. Manson will make his debut on the season's eighth episode, scheduled to air in mid-November.
Show creators and executive producers Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz said in a statement, "We've always been enormous fans of Marilyn Manson. We wanted to cast someone with the vocal ability to make our skin crawl."
The show takes place in the fictional town of Storybrooke, Maine, in which its residents are actually characters from various fairy tales that were transported to the "real world" town and robbed of their real memories by a powerful curse. The Shadow is a mysterious being that kidnaps young children from their beds to take them back to the fantasy realm of Neverland and steal their souls.
The main storyline of the third season involves the cast traveling to Neverland to search for the character of Henry Mills, who has been snatched by an evil version of Peter Pan. Manson has appeared in a handful of movies and TV shows before, most recently on the Showtime series "Californication" — where he played himself — and the Sundance Channel program "Wrong Cops".
He has spent most of the past year touring behind his 2012 album, "Born Villain".
Matt Bellamy Talks "Unsettling" Digital Quality of Muse's Ultra-High-Def Concert Film; Reveals Plans for Next Album
Muse is set to unleash their first-ever concert film shot in 4K ultra-high-definition, Muse -- Live at Rome Olympic Stadium, in theaters next month. As the title reveals, the movie documents the band’s performance at the Olympic Stadium in Rome on July 6. Frontman Matt Bellamy says he’s impressed by the film’s picture quality, but says it's so detailed, it can be distracting at times.
"It's so much more noticeably sharper that it's almost unsettling at first," he tells Billboard. "You see the sort of big panning [shot] across the audience and your eyes are drawn to the details of so many people's heads and what they're wearing."
While the band is still out on the road touring their latest album, The 2nd Law, Bellamy says the guys plan to head back into the studio soon to work on their next release. "Early next year I think we'll probably take a break for a few months and at some point next year we'll start writing new music," he reveals. "I think if everyone is up for it, we'll start recording music sometime next year."
Advance screenings of Muse -- Live at Rome Olympic Stadium will be held in 20 cities on November 5, while the film will arrive in theaters worldwide on November 6. Visit Film.Muse.mu to find a screening at a theater near you.

Buckcherry Parts Ways with Bassist Jimmy Ashhurst
Buckcherry is getting a new bassist. On Wednesday, the band announced they’ve officially parted ways with longtime bandmate Jimmy Ashhurst. The band issued a joint statement on their website about the split, noting they asked Ashhurst to step aside after “many years of freely voicing his extreme level of unhappiness on a daily basis.”
“It's not our desire to air dirty laundry or inner band circumstances that brought about this result,” writes the group. “Every band has its issues, and while we have gone to great lengths to minimize them and work through them, this band has had its own issues like any other. Simply put, we felt it was in the best interest of the collective group to find a replacement for Jimmy, for the good of the group as well as the good of Jimmy.”
Buckcherry adds they've already chosen Ashhurst's replacement: they'll be moving forward with formerMD.45 bassist Kelly LeMieux for the rest of the band’s 2013 touring schedule.

Brian "Head" Welch Says He Left Korn to Escape Band’s “Dysfunctional and Unhealthy” Behavior
While Brian "Head" Welch is happy to be reunited with his Korn band mates, the guitarist says he had to quit the band in 2005 in order to escape the group’s self-destructive bad habits.
"I couldn't be around people killing themselves anymore,” he tells Billboard. “As far as people doing cocaine or just drinking themselves into a crazy alcoholic and watching people's lives slip away, I can't be around that. It was really dysfunctional and unhealthy, so I just needed to get away from that."
Welch notes he’s enjoying the group’s new chemistry on their latest release, The Paradigm Shift. “It seems like we've been given another chance to live and breathe and really appreciate and be so thankful for what we do,” he explains. “We're so pumped up about this record, and the songs [in concert] are just blowing up.”
You’ll get your chance to see the band perform new tracks live when they head out on the road with their old friend Rob Zombie next month. Dubbed the Night of the Living Dreads Tour, the North American trek begins on November 3 at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, NV.

Tenacious D’s Jack Black Promises Special Guest Appearance, Unique Comedy Experience at Festival Supreme
Tenacious D will stage their inaugural comedy-rock music festival, Festival Supreme, on Saturday at the Santa Monica Pier in Santa Monica, CA. Frontman Jack Black says fans who attend the event can expect a few surprises, including a “secret guest” that will join them during their headlining set.
“There’s a secret weapon that when we unleash them, the excitement level will probably go through the roof,” he tells L.A. Record. “Although there’s no roof there, so the floorboards of the pier will shake loose.”
Another attraction at the upcoming event will be the One Man Tent, which Black notes will allow concert-goers to get some one-on-one time with comedian Gregg Turkington’s stand-up comedy character, Neil Hamburger. “Only one audience member is allowed in at a time, and you have 30 seconds alone with Neil,” he explains. “I can’t guarantee he’s even gonna tell jokes. You might just stare at him drinking and drinking, and he might just stare at you sweatily. But it’s gonna be an experience to remember.”
In addition to the D, the Festival Supreme's bill features a host of other well-known comedy-rockers including Zach Galifianakis, Adam Sandler, Sarah Silverman, Fred Armisen, and Eric Idle. Visit FestivalSupreme.com to view the full lineup.
KISS, NIRVANA, DEEP PURPLE Nominated For ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME Induction
KISS, DEEP PURPLE, YES, and NIRVANA are among the nominees for induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2014.
For the second time in as many as years, a fan vote will be conducted and counted among the 600 ballots to be cast by members of the Rock Hall.
Fans can cast their votes beginning October 16 on the Rock Hall's web site, RollingStone.com and USAtoday.com. The top 5 vote getters will make up the fans ballot.
The artists who get the most votes will be announced around December and will be inducted at a New York City ceremony next April. Highlights from the event will be shown on HBO in May.
During an interview with The Huffington Post, KISS frontman Paul Stanley took time to salute the band's fans while taking a swipe at chairman of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Foundation, Jann Wenner, when asked if he ever sees a day when KISS will be inducted into the Rock Hall. "Well, it depends on who lives longer, us or Jann Wenner," Stanley said.
"Look, the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is marketing," he continued. "You've got a bunch of faceless people in a back room who trademark a name that sounds very official. Well, if you had thought of it first, you would have been the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. I am one of the biggest Laura Nyro fans. I still listen to that stuff incessantly. Laura Nyro does not belong in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. Songwriter Hall Of Fame? Absolutely."
He went on to plead his case, saying: "It's absurd for anybody to look around and hear the acts and artists who cite us as an inspiration, and then tell me that we're not in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame. I would certainly accept on their (the fans) behalf because it seems to be a major sore spot for them, but I don't need the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame." KISS bassist/vocalist Gene Simmons told Rolling Stone last year about being shut out of the Rock Hall: "It's become a joke. We've been thinking about it and the answer is simply, 'We'll just buy it and fire everybody.' In all seriousness for the fans, for something to be called Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is such an insult to MADONNA, BLONDIE. . . Who the fuck knows what other disco act is in there? It's an insult to them because they don't get to be in the 'Dance Hall Of Fame', because that's what they do. They're legitimate dance, disco artists. They don't belong in rock and roll." Stanley added: "The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame has reached a point where they're really scrounging and scratching to find someone left that they consider viable. With all due respect, when you get to Patti Smith, you're about two steps away from Pete Seeger." Gene Simmons told The Pulse Of Radio that awards hold little allure for him, since it's the fans that ultimately decide who stays around and who doesn't: "Our awards are under the 'K' section in record stores. Every time somebody goes out and plunks down their hard-earned money — either for a KISS ticket or for an album — that's the award, and reward."
KORN's 'The Paradigm Shift' Cracks U.S. Top 10
KORN's 11th studio album, "The Paradigm Shift", sold 46,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 8 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores on October 8 via Prospect Park. KORN's previous LP, 2011's "The Path Of Totality", opened with 55,000 units to debut at No. 10.
The group's 2010 effort, "Korn III - Remember Who You Are", registered a first-week tally of 63,000 copies to enter the chart at No. 2. KORN's untitled album premiered with 123,000 copies back in August 2007 to enter the chart at No. 2. That number was slightly more than half of the 221,000 first-week tally achieved by its predecessor, "See You On The Other Side", which debuted at No. 3 back in December 2005. "The Paradigm Shift" is the first KORN disc to feature original guitarist Brian "Head" Welch since 2003's "Take A Look In The Mirror" and follows up 2011's dubstep experiment, "The Path Of Totality". Frontman Jonathan Davis told The Pulse Of Radio that Welch's return on guitar was a good balance to Davis' own continued fascination with electronic music. "We wanted to make a record that everybody was happy with, and Head coming back, I think, was great, 'cause me and him butted heads. 'Cause he really is on the rock side and I was on the electronic side, and it was good having the compromise on both sides. It was just good for the creative process, I think." Welch recently told Rolling Stone that the new album has "the old KORN vibe, but with a new twist . . . The end product is a really good mix of old KORN mixed with some new elements. It's got a fresh new KORN 2013 sound." Welch left KORN in 2005 after he converted to Christianity and got off drugs. He rejoined them for a handful of live performances last year before officially becoming part of the lineup again in early 2013. Davis recently revealed that he was dealing with personal issues during the early stages of the new disc, including his son being diagnosed with diabetes and his own struggle to kick an addiction to anti-depression medication. KORN and ROB ZOMBIE will co-headline the "Night Of The Living Dreads" tour this fall. The 17-date run begins on November 3 in Reno, Nevada and wraps on November 26 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
ALTER BRIDGE's 'Fortress' Lands In U.S. Top 15
ALTER BRIDGE's fourth album, "Fortress", sold 30,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 12 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores on October 8 via EMI Label Services. "Fortress" track listing:
01. Cry Of Achilles
02. Addicted To Pain
03. Bleed It Dry
05. The Uninvited
06. Peace Is Broken
07. Calm The Fire
08. Waters Rising
09. Farther Than The Sun
10. Cry A River
11. All Ends Well
12. Fortress "Fortress" follows up ALTER BRIDGE's last release, 2010's "AB III". During the break, singer Myles Kennedy toured as part of Slash's solo band and also performed all the vocals on the ex-GUNS N' ROSES guitarist's second solo effort, last year's "Apocalyptic Love". The Pulse Of Radio asked Kennedy how singing for ALTER BRIDGE is different from working with Slash. "Vocally, each band brings a different approach out," he said. "The feel of the music will dictate that. With Slash, there's definitely more of a bluesy, soulful vibe that just naturally happens. With ALTER BRIDGE, because it's got more of a metal undercurrent, I think there's something that just happens there as well. But the nice thing is is that it allows you to stretch in two different directions."
Guitarist Mark Tremonti recently told Music Radar that the quartet did everything they could to make the new disc as unpredictable as possible, explaining, "We messed with time signatures, tones, key changes. Everything we could throw at these songs, we did. They have you never knowing what you're getting next."
The first single from the new album is called "Addicted To Pain". ALTER BRIDGE next jets off to Europe for a month of shows starting on October 16, ending in mid-November. Full North American tour plans are still to be announced.
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS: 'High Rise' First-Week Sales Revealed
"High Rise", the new EP from STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, sold 12,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 24 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD arrived in stores on October 8 via Play Pen/ADA. "High Rise" is STONE TEMPLE PILOTS' first new disc with lead singer Chester Bennington, who replaced original frontman Scott Weiland earlier this year. Although the EP contains just five songs, Bennington told The Pulse Of Radio that coming up with music together was not a problem. "After our very first initial kind of let's sit down, you know, officially kind of shake hands and say we're doing this, I think by the time we got home, we were already like coming up with ideas," he said. "Within a couple of days we had nine or 10 demos that we were kicking around and I knew the second that I got the memo from Robert [DeLeo, bass], he was playing 'Out Of Time', the main riff, and it was like, I mean melodies just started coming." "Out Of Time" was released over the summer and vaulted to the top of the Active Rock radio chart.
Other tracks on the new disc include "Black Heart", "Cry, Cry" and "Tomorrow". STP fired Weiland in February, claiming that his own solo activities and erratic behavior were detrimental to the band.
The group later sued Weiland, with the singer firing off a countersuit and claiming that they could not use the band name without his involvement. STONE TEMPLE PILOTS just completed its first North American tour with Bennington on the mic and has yet to announce new live dates. In the meantime, Bennington has returned to the studio with his main act, LINKIN PARK.
ZAKK WYLDE 'Moderne Of Doom' Guitar Unveiled
Gibson has unveiled the limited-edition Zakk Wylde Moderne Of Doom guitar based on the legendary-yet-never-released third member of the Modernist Series of the late 1950s — the Gibson Moderne. Intended to complement the revolutionary Explorer and Flying V, the Moderne never saw the light of day, though rumors of existing examples persist to this day. In the hands of Gibson USA, the radical Moderne style taken from factory design sketches of 1958 unfolds as an unrelenting, flamethrowing modern-rock tone machine.
With a body constructed from a solid Grade-A mahogany with Grade-A maple top, the Zakk Wylde Moderne Of Doom launches its attack with time-tested tonewoods. But it quickly takes the look to another planet with the ultra-radical Moderne body style and a natural nitrocellulose finish with Zakk-certified black pinstripe top graphic. A glued-in Grade-A maple neck is carved to Zakk's preferred profile for full-on shred, and topped with a beautiful dark Grade-A Richlite fingerboard. A pair of Zakk's beloved EMG active humbuckers — an EMG 85 in the neck position and an EMG 81 in the bridge — provides unequalled power and sustain for everything from crunch-of-doom rhythm licks to hellfire leads. And to take the guitar's versatility to the next level, there's a Floyd Rose vibrato with locking nut ready to scream out your wildest dive-bombing action.
With matte-black pickup covers, black hardware, and a trio of black speed knobs, the Zakk Wylde Moderne Of Doom has the wild looks to match Wylde's tone. Feel the heat now at your authorized Gibson USA dealer — production is limited to 250 guitars, so secure yours before it's too late.

STP Guitarist Dean DeLeo Says Chester Bennington Was His Only Choice to Replace Scott Weiland
Choosing the replacement for former Stone Temple Pilots frontman Scott Weiland may seem like a daunting task, but for Dean DeLeo, it was an easy decision. The guitarist says Linkin Park frontmanChester Bennington was his only choice to be the group’s new lead singer.
“It wasn’t even discussed,” he tells ABC News Radio. “I brought up Chester’s name, we reached out to him. There was no one else’s name on the table, this belonged to him. It really did.”
DeLeo says that Bennington’s vocal range was one of the main reasons he was chosen for the job, especially since the guys want to perform a wide variety of career-spanning tracks during their concerts. “I knew there was a lot of songs in our catalog that we were unable to play anymore just because of Scott’s range that Chester would just be able to…really, really do justice to,” he explains. “I also knew how creative and talented the guy was.” Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington put out their debut EP, High Rise, last week. DeLeo says he was hoping to put out a full-length album for their first release, but Bennington’s schedule didn’t allow for it. “To write and record 10 or 12 songs is gonna take about six weeks,” he notes. “We didn’t have it. We only had about three or four, so you gotta really manage the time that you have, especially with Chester’s other job. If we had six or eight or ten weeks we would have done a full album, but we didn’t.”
According to the industry website Hits Daily Double, High Rise is likely to debut in the #11 slot on theBillboard 200 albums chart, selling 13,000 to 15,000 copies. The Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be released on Wednesday.
Filter’s Jeff Fabb Denied Entry to Denver Restaurant Due to Neck Tattoos
If you plan on eating at Brothers Bar & Grill in Denver, Colorado, you better cover your neck tattoos. Filter’s Jeff Fabb was denied entry to the restaurant because of his extensive ink, following the group’s concert at The Summit on Wednesday night. The drummer notes he was perplexed by the decision not to let him dine at the restaurant, due to the fact he had eaten there earlier that day.
“I had eaten in the restaurant twice, and after the show, we walked back there,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter. “The door guy was about to let Amir, our merch guy, in, but he wouldn’t let me in. I went to speak with the manager and he was confrontational from the moment he saw me. I was kind of hurt, since most of the people who were in there at the time were from our show and we wanted to join them.”
Upon hearing about the incident, frontman Richard Patrick filmed a video on his cell phone in which he and Fabb try to gain entry into the restaurant, but are turned away. The clip ends with Patrick letting loose a stream of profanity aimed at the restaurant, and asking the band's Denver fans to boycott the establishment.
“I got a little heated, but this is ridiculous,” he explains. “I had wings at noon over there -- they were good wings, too! The crew was there all day, eating. This is prejudice, pure and simple.” The Hollywood Reporter says they placed calls to all 17 U.S. locations of Brothers Bar & Grill to inquire about the restaurant's dress codes, and discovered the Denver location was the only branch to say that people with “above-the-neck tattoos” wouldn't be allowed to dine at their location. The restaurant reportedly didn't specify why they established the rule against patrons with tattoos.
Filter is currently trekking across the U.S. on their Self-Inflicted Tour, promoting their recently-released album, The Sun Comes Out Tonight. You can check out the group’s full itinerary at OfficialFilter.com.

Pearl Jam’s Songs to Be Played During This Year's World Series Telecasts
This year's World Series is offering a special treat for baseball fans that also love the music of Pearl Jam. Thanks to a partnership between Fox Sports and the band, a wide variety of Pearl Jam’s tunes will be heard during the Fox network's coverage of the sporting event, set to air October 23-31.
"There was a period of time when we didn't license much music," Pearl Jam manager Kelly Curtis tellsBillboard. "But for the past many years, we consider licensing requests using the same criteria we do for everything else: Do we like it? Would the fans like it? Does it provide a different forum for fans to hear the music? Is it something we can get behind? The band loves baseball, so this one was a no-brainer."
A total of 48 Pearl Jam tracks will be featured in music beds, opening teases, commercial bumpers and montages during the World Series games, including all 12 songs from their upcoming album Lightning Bolt, due on October 15. Other songs fans can expect to hear during the broadcasts include "Animal," "Better Man," "Black," "Blood," "Corduroy," "Daughter" and "Even Flow."

Trent Reznor Says He’s “Neutral” About Nine Inch Nails Getting into Rock Hall of Fame
Now that Nine Inch Nails has been around for 25 years, the group can be considered for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Frontman Trent Reznor says while he felt honored to win an Oscar for the score he created with writing partner Atticus Ross for The Social Network, he isn’t concerned about being nominated for the Rock Hall.
“I feel neutral about it,” he tells Rolling Stone. “The experience of winning the Oscar for Social Network…I'm sure there are some bulls**t aspects to that whole organization, but getting a glimpse into the film world as opposed to the music world, I was immediately impressed by how much more they care about things. It felt like it had some weight to it, and I was flattered.”
Nominations for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's class of 2014 are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

METALLICA's LARS ULRICH Is 'Proud' Of 'Lulu', Says Album 'Will Age Well'
In a brand new interview with U.K.'s Kerrang! magazine, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich revealed that he still stands proudly behind "Lulu", the band's controversial collaborative album with former THE VELVET UNDERGROUND frontman Lou Reed.
"Somehow I heard 'The View' about a month ago in my car; I don't know if one of my kids was playing it, or how it came on, but I thought it sounded fucking insane. It sounded really, really strong," he said. "I couldn't quite figure out what all the fuss was about. I don't know what people expected a collaboration between METALLICA and Lou Reed to sound like, but I'm proud of it. I'm sure that record will age well within the catalogue and within the history." Lars cited U.S. talk show host "Howard Stern" as a particularly high-profile example of someone who mocked "Lulu" on release, but later ate his words.
"[He was] one of the many cynics that came around three months later and spent days on the broadcast apologizing, and so there's a whole group of people who keep coming back and saying, 'I was wrong about 'Lulu'!'" Lars said. "It's like, 'Listen, no worries; it's fine, you can think what you want.' We're happy and proud, and Lou Reed is obviously a legend. Who wouldn't want to work with him? If Lou Reed called you up and said, 'Listen, I love your writing for Kerrang! Do you want to do a project together where we could write some poetry?', are you telling me you're going to say 'no?'"
Speaking to The Verge last month, METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett was asked if fan reactions ever factor in when METALLICA is deciding what to do next. Kirk said: "No, because we're doing it for ourselves, man. 'Lulu' is a really good example. I think that 'Lulu' is some of the best stuff we've done. I mean, the song 'Junior Dad' moves me to tears, and working with Lou Reed was such a cool, unique, and special thing for us. Maybe it's not for everyone. Maybe it's a challenge for our fans, but for us — Lars, James [Hetfield, guitar/vocals], Rob [Trujillo, bass], and myself — we loved doing it and it was such a great experience. We look back at it very positively."
In an interview with SPIN magazine, Ulrich was asked if he was surprised by the overwhelmingly negative reaction to "Lulu". "It was more spiteful than anyone was prepared for," Lars replied. "Especially against Lou. He is such a sweet man. But when METALLICA do impulsive riffing and Lou Reed is reciting abstract poetry about German bohemians from 150 years ago, it can be difficult to embrace." Lars also said that he never had second thoughts when sweet Lou came in with lyrics like "I swallow your sharpest cutter / Like a colored man's dick". "I understand that to some 13-year-old in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, it can all seem a little cringe-worthy, but to someone raised in an art community in Copenhagen in the late '60s, that was expected," he said. Ulrich told Brazil's Wikimetal in September 2011 that he felt good about recording "Lulu", which came out to poor sales and disastrous reviews in November 2011. Ulrich said, "It's definitely very unique, and whether it's unique in a good way or unique in a not-so-good way, I have no idea yet. The people whose opinions I trust say it's very good. It feels very good; it's a lot of fun to do. But whether it's making a new sound, or paving a new way, I have no idea." "Lulu" polarized fans around the world and earned METALLICA some of the most scathing reviews of its career. The effort features the former THE VELVET UNDERGROUND frontman's spoken-word poetry and lyrics combined with METALLICA's musical assault for a jarring experience that doesn't sound like anything METALLICA has ever attempted before. A concept album based on two early 20th century plays by German author Frank Wedekind, the CD was co-produced by Reed, METALLICA, Hal Willner — who has produced albums for Reed, Marianne Faithfull, and Laurie Anderson, among others — and Greg Fidelman. Fidelman also mixed the record.
The collaboration between METALLICA and Reed was sparked by their performance together of Reed's "Sweet Jane" and "White Light/White Heat" at the 25th anniversary of the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame at Madison Square Garden in October of 2009.
The songs were all written by Reed with extensive arrangement contributions by METALLICA.
Only two songs on the album are under five minutes in length, while two are more than 11 minutes long and the closing cut, "Junior Dad", clocks in at 19 minutes.

New Albums by Panic! at the Disco, Korn, Alter Bridge Expected to Score Top-10 Spots on Billboard 200
Panic! at the Disco, Korn and Alter Bridge are all expected to make big debuts on the Billboard 200 album chart next week.
According to the industry website Hits Daily Double, Panic! at the Disco’s fourth studio album, Too Weird to Live, Too Rare to Die!, is headed for the #2 spot on the tally, with projected sales putting it somewhere around 90,000 to 100,000 copies. If the predictions are true, the album’s first-week sales will best the debut of Panic's previous release, 2011’s Vices & Virtues, which debuted at #7 on the chart and sold 56,000 copies its first week out, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Korn’s The Paradigm Shift is looking to snag the #5 spot on Billboard 200, with projections putting its sales somewhere around 40,000 to 45,000 copies. The Paradigm Shift is the band’s first release to feature co-founding guitarist Brian "Head" Welch since 2003’s Take a Look in the Mirror.
Alter Bridge’s Fortress will likely grab the #6 spot on the list, with projected sales putting it around 30,000 to 35,000 copies. If the predictions are true, Fortress will mark Alter Bridge’s second-highest debut on the tally since their first album, 2004's One Day Remains, which took the #5 slot on the chart its first week out.
Other bands expected to claim top spots on the Billboard 200 include Cage the Elephant and Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington. Cage the Elephant’s Melophobia will likely come in at #9 with 17,000 to 20,000 copies sold, while Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington’s debut EP, High Rise, is looking to secure the #11 slot, selling 13,000 to 15,000 copies.

Nine Inch Nails and Queens of the Stone Age Announce 2014 Co-Headlining Tour of Australia, New Zealand

The bands have just scheduled a string of eight dates in Australia and New Zealand, which kick off on March 6 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre. If you’re wondering who’ll take the stage first, it will be left up to chance: the groups say they’ll flip a coin each night to decide which of them will get to perform first.

Alter Bridge’s Myles Kennedy Gives Update on Next Slash Album; Mark Tremonti Talks Next Solo Release
Alter Bridge may have just released their fourth studio album, Fortress, but frontman Myles Kennedy and guitarist Mark Tremonti have revealed they already have plans for their side projects.
Kennedy says he’s begun the writing process for Slash’s next solo album, which he hopes to start recording sometime in 2014. “Slash is sending me his riffs and ideas, so I've been [sending parts to him] via the old phone voice memo,” he tells Billboard. “We'll probably get together here later with the other guys, start chipping away at some things, and the goal is to record it next year.”
Meanwhile, Tremonti notes he’s looking forward to getting back into the studio with the members of his side project, Tremonti. “I'll be getting with the guys and trying to find a window maybe in December or January just to write some material,” he explains. “The next time we tour [as my solo band] Tremonti will probably be after we get some new material done, so it will probably be at least six months till we play some shows.”

Cage the Elephant's Matt Shultz Talks Breaking New Ground with Melophobia
Cage the Elephant fans may notice that the band’s recently released third studio album, Melophobia, sounds a bit different from their previous records. Frontman Matt Shultz says the guys always try to break new ground sonically, mostly because they aren’t fans of following a formula when putting together their records.
“I think we have musical [attention deficit disorder] and I think we’re also like hyper-sensitive to repeating ourselves,” he tells ABC News Radio. “If somethings sounds remotely similar we start to run in a different direction, so it’s probably why some of our songs have bridges that seem out of left field.”
Shultz adds he felt the record’s first single, “Come a Little Closer,” was a proper introduction toMelophobia because it showcases the variety of musical styles the group explores on the release. “We felt like it was the best representation of the record as a whole,” he explains. “I don’t necessarily know if it was like the most immediate song, but it definitely felt like it had almost all of the qualities from all the different songs in that one song, so it kinda made sense.”
While Cage the Elephant has scheduled a few dates to promote the release over the next few months, the band is currently plotting an extensive North American trek which will be revealed in the coming weeks.

Scott Stapp Releases Lyric Video for “Slow Suicide”
Creed frontman Scott Stapp has posted a lyric video for “Slow Suicide,” the first single from his upcoming second solo effort, Proof of Life. In the three-minute clip, which you can see at Yahoo! Music, the song's lyrics flash across the screen while photos of the singer fade in and out of the frame.
Stapp says he came up with idea for “Slow Suicide” after spending some quality time with his friend, The Exies singer Scott Stevens. "Anything we put into our lives that is bringing negativity at any level into our lives is slowly killing us," he tells Yahoo! Music. "I had that epiphany as we were writing that it was slow suicide because there was a choice I made in all those areas in continuing that behavior or letting it go, as difficult as it may be.” Proof of Life will arrive at all the usual outlets on November 5. It features 11 new songs that were inspired by Stapp's recent memoir, Sinner’s Creed, in which he discusses his upbringing, his time with Creed and his ongoing battle with addiction.
STONE TEMPLE PILOTS Bassist: 'We're Excited And We're Enjoying Ourselves'
The new version of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, with Chester Bennington on lead vocals, will release a new EP titled "High Rise" on Tuesday (October 8). STP fired singer Scott Weiland in February after reuniting with him in 2010 for a series of tours and one self-titled album. The band had previously been on hiatus since 2002, primarily due to the vocalist's struggles with drugs and alcohol. STONE TEMPLE PILOTS bassist Robert DeLeo told TheStreet about the current state of the band: "It's a new chapter for STONE TEMPLE PILOTS. We're excited and we're enjoying ourselves."
He added: "I look at it this way — there are a lot of people in this world who work hard and don't enjoy it. Playing music, it's work but I feel really blessed to say I make music in my life. What's more enjoyable than to have the gift of doing that?"
Asked if he was aware of Chester's vocal versatility all along, Robert said: "We were aware of it. It's like any artist, actor or entertainer — I always use Jim Carrey as an example. He made all these great, funny movies, and then when he did a serious role, people were like, 'What is he doing?' People get used to seeing you one way, and they have certain expectations."
He continued: "LINKIN PARK has made a huge imprint, and people are obviously going to associate him with their sound. But when someone steps out and gets into another environment, you see another side of that person. I think that's healthy for everyone." Weiland and STONE TEMPLE PILOTS have sued each other, with Weiland claiming that the other members cannot use the STP name and the group alleging that Weiland damaged their careers.
METALLICA's 'Through The Never' Has Earned Less Than $3 Million So Far
According to Box Office Mojo, METALLICA's new movie, "Metallica Through The Never", expanded to 589 locations on October 4, but in the process lost most of its IMAX screens to "Gravity", the outer-space thriller starring Sandra Bullock and George Clooney. As a result, it plummeted 56 percent to $697,763. So far, the hybrid concert movie, which was written and directed by Nimród Antal ("Kontroll", "Predators"), has earned just $2.7 million. "Metallica Through The Never" officially opened on September 27 for an exclusive week-long run on IMAX screens. The film's surreal narrative winds its way through the concert footage, in which a roadie played by Dane DeHaan finds himself in an increasingly hostile urban environment while on a mission for the band.
Financed by the METALLICA members themselves at a budget of $18 million, "Metallica Through The Never" is the first new release via Picturehouse, the full-service independent film marketing and distribution company started in 2005, which reopened its doors with founder Bob Berney at the helm.
Asked if making the movie was worth the financial risk, METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich told The Quietus: "That remains to be seen. Ask me when I come back and talk about the new record two years from now. I have no idea. I do know that we rarely consider other options, so compromise is not METALLICA's major strength. And I think that the fans hopefully appreciate that if its got the word 'METALLICA' written somewhere on or near it, that it comes from us."
He continued: "Creative experiences aren't really ones we share with anyone other than the closest few that we sort of purposefully let in. So, to sit there and take a bunch of money from a bunch of people to then have them [be] involved in editing and controlling the movie and so on just seemed wrong. That, of course, was before the project ran amok, but they always run amok, so it's nothing new.
"In METALLICA, we don't look at things as… there's a word called 'cross-collaterizing.' You sort of put everything against everything else so it's not [a case of], 'How is the movie going to do, as itself?' It's not like an isolated entity…
"I think nowadays in media it's very much, 'What did it cost? What did they get back? Was it a success? Was it a failure?' It's slightly more complicated than that, and that kind of breaking it down to absolutes really doesn't interest me.
"This is another chapter in METALLICA's existence, and I'm sure that if we don't make all the money back, then, I don't know, [we will in] t-shirt sales seven years down the line. Something good will come in the wake of these projects. It's just sort of how we roll."
The soundtrack, which features a number of METALLICA classics performed live in the movie, was released on September 24. The two-disc CD came out on METALLICA's own label, Blackened Recordings, also in digital and vinyl formats.
ALICE IN CHAINS Guitarist: 'Some Camps Like To Rewrite Our History As If We Didn't Exist'
Dan Weiss of Noisey recently conducted an interview with ALICE IN CHAINS guitarist Jerry Cantrell. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below. Noisey: The new [ALICE IN CHAINS] album ["The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here"], in a weird way, seems like the most positive, optimistic album you've ever made. Cantrell: It's funny, I've heard people take it both ways. There's a camp that sees it as a very dark record, and there's a camp that sees it as a very "up" record. I guess sonically it reaches a little further back to classic rock and there's some pop elements, and metal as well. All those elements reach a little further back in time. Lyrically… [laughs] it's as harsh as any record we've done. Lyrically, it's pretty dark. Sonically, it could be taken to be a more "up" record. But I think that's always been the trick with this band, even if the music is kind of soothing or sparse, the lyrics always bring things back to reality. I've said this a few times about our music, but it's like saying something horrible in the most beautiful way. Noisey: Do you think you'll ever do another EP like "Sap" or "Jar Of Flies" again that's a departure from the harder-rocking albums? Cantrell: It's something that we've done in the past, and of course, who knows what we're gonna do in the future? Over the last couple years I think we've all come to the conclusion that the best recipe is in the moment and to deal with what you're dealing with now. I'd never say we'd never do one but I think the last two records we've put out have elements of both those EPs, with acoustic guitar kind of blended in with the heavier elements. Maybe this one more than the last one, but there's some really nice moments on "Black Gives Way To Blue"… "When the Sun Rose Again", "Your Decision", on the last record. This record has maybe a couple more songs geared toward that vibe of the band. This one's pretty much an equal mix toward that side of the band, the EPs and the "Unplugged", but also the heavier stuff. Noisey: What aspect of the band do you think doesn't get enough credit? Cantrell: I don't know! As time goes by, the story seems to kind of change a little bit. We've been around for a long time, and we were part of a very significant moment in music, not just in our hometown, but around the world in the late '80s and '90s when music took a turn. And it meant a lot to us even just to do it. As for where we didn't get credit, I mean, we get a lot of credit. Some camps like to rewrite our history as if we didn't exist, or that we didn't come from the town that we came from somehow. I've seen a few things happen that way, that somehow we get bumped out of the story. At the end of the day, we're not doing this for someone else's interpretation of what our life was. I know how it went, I'm still living it, I'm still doing it, and I'm still adding to it. I'll think about that shit when I'm sitting on the porch unable to do anything else. Maybe I'll have had a little time to look back at it then. But like I was saying earlier, it's good to stay in the moment, think about the next few steps in front of you. I've been doing it more or less with my friends for the last 26 years and we're still on the journey, still in the process.

Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda Rules Out Co-Headlining Tour with STP
Now that Chester Bennington is the frontman for Linkin Park and Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington, it’s only natural that members of both groups have thought about launching a tour together. LP multi-instrumentalist Mike Shinoda says while he’d love to hit the road with STP, he’s not sure it would be healthy for Bennington’s voice.
“I personally don't know if I want to put Chester through that,” he tells Billboard. “It's like asking a pro athlete to play a doubleheader. I don't care how good [NBA stars] Kobe Bryant or LeBron James are; if you have them play doubleheaders every day, they're gonna look pretty worn out by the end of it."
Bennington adds while he’s happy to be in both bands, his main priority will always be his duties in Linkin Park. "We've treated this much like if you're doing business with somebody and want to go off and do business with somebody else," he explains. “In no way, shape or form do I want anything I do with Stone Temple Pilots to interfere with what we have to do as a band."
Both groups have new releases headed our way this month: Stone Temple Pilots with Chester Bennington will drop their debut EP, High Rise, on Tuesday, while Linkin Park will release Recharged, an album that features new interpretations of songs from 2012's Living Things, on October 29.

San Francisco Bay Area metallers MACHINE HEAD have posted the following message on their official Facebook page:
"Last night, the BLABBERMOUTH.NET Facebook posted a side by side photo of AVENGED SEVENFOLD's new stage set against MACHINE HEAD's 16-year-old lion crest. Unquestionably, lion crests have been around for ages, but there are some uncanny similarities to MACHINE HEAD's distinct lion crest.
* Lions (with axes)
* Roman numerals at the bottom
* Band symbol in the center
* Black-and-white juxtaposition in the center
"Head Cases, tell us what think." AVENGED SEVENFOLD singer M. Shadows told the Worcester/Boston, Massachusetts radio station WAAF that he isn't bothered by recent comments from MACHINE HEAD frontman Robb Flynn, in which Flynn called the band's new "Hail To The King" CD a "covers album." Flynn specifically called the band out for songs like "This Means War", which bears a strong resemblance to METALLICA's "Sad But True", along with others.
Shadows told WAAF's Mike Hsu (hear audio below): "I think, more than anything, [Robb's comments] brought a lot of attention to the record.
"I saw a lot of people saying, 'Oh, well, I didn't like AVENGED before, but now I'm gonna check it out, and I like this record.' So that was kind of funny.
"But, you know, [I'm] just trying to be displomatic about the whole thing."
He continued: "I don't really care what anyone says, but when people ask you about it over and over, you have to have some sort of response. And my response is just, look, I know the guy. He can say whatever he says. He's a grown-ass adult. He's 40-something years old and has an opinion on our record. I guess he can write and say whatever he wants." Flynn didn't pull any punches in his critique, writing, "Congratulations to AVENGED SEVENFOLD On their latest 'covers album' coming in at #1. Who knew that re-recording METALLICA, GUNS N' ROSES, and MEGADETH songs could be such a worldwide hit!!?? Ba-dap Psssssss!!" "Hail To The King" sold 159,000 copies in its first week of release, giving the California band their second straight chart-topper after 2010's "Nightmare".

Slash Discusses the New Horror Film He Produced, Nothing Left to Fear
Nothing Left to Fear, the first movie from Slash's Slasher Films production company, premiered in select theaters over the weekend, and will be available for purchase on DVD, Blu-ray and as a digital video on Tuesday. The horror flick, which stars Anne Heche, James Tupper and Clancy Brown, tells the story of a religious family who moves into a small Kansas town with a dark secret -- it happens to be located over a portal to hell.
"Basically, it's Internet folklore," the ex-Guns N' Roses guitarist tells ABC News Radio about the inspiration for the film. "There is a town called Stull in Kansas, and there's this whole series of anecdotes of things that have been happening [there] for years…And there is a cemetery there that's supposed to be one of the seven gateways to hell, and there's a church next door to it which is harboring a demon and the son of a demon, or something along those lines."
As a lifelong horror-movie fan, Slash says many aspects of Nothing Left to Fear's story appealed to him and inspired him to co-produce the flick.
"I love the sort of innocent family being lured into this nice, rural community under false pretenses," he explains. "I loved the religious aspect of it, because that's a thing that's supposed to make you feel safe, so I love that sort of twist there…Everything about it seemed like something…original, but it's along themes that we've heard before."
Besides being involved in the production end, Slash also lent his musical talents to the movie, co-writing the score -- in collaboration with composer Nicholas O'Toole -- and contributed a couple of original songs to the soundtrack. The rocker explains that although he hadn't composed a full-length score before, working with O'Toole turned what might have been a chore into a "really pleasurable" experience.
"In a way, [it was] a challenge," notes Slash, "but it was so fascinating and it was so much fun to do that it took all the work out of it."
One of the original tunes the 48-year-old Rock and Roll Hall of Famer penned for the movie was the title track, which features vocals by Alter Bridge frontman Myles Kennedy, who also has been the lead singer of Slash's band for the last few years. Slash says asking Kennedy to appear on the song was a no-brainer.
"Myles is an incredible singer, and he's got the kind of voice that fits perfectly to do something haunting," he maintains. "He's got a very, very sort of buttery-smooth voice with a lot of range, so he can go very deep and he can go very high…It wasn't even a question to me who should sing it."
As for what kind of movie fans can expect next from Slasher Films, Slash promises that it definitely won't be a romantic comedy.
"Slasher Films is primarily horror based," he insists. "There's so many different possibilities for horror stories [and] science-fiction stories, but along those lines is where I'm keeping it focused. I'm just looking for another story that's really, really great and something that totally grabs me by the short hairs."

Ozzy Osbourne's Granddaughter Pearl Dresses Up Like Grandpa
Ozzy Osbourne may be known as the Prince of Darkness, but we're sure his day must have brightened up when he saw the photo of his 18-month-old granddaughter Pearl that his son Jack recently posted on Twitter. The picture shows little Pearl dressed up as her rock-star grandpa, complete with long wig, a necklace of crosses and round glasses with purple lenses just like Ozzy's.
The 27-year-old Jack, who's currently appearing in Dancing with the Stars, posted a simple note to accompany the cute pic that reads "The Princess of Darkness." Jack's wife, Lisa, meanwhile, revealed on her own Twitter account that the costume was a gift from Ellen DeGeneres.
Ozzy likely will have to wait a bit before he sees Pearl in the getup in person. His band Black Sabbathkicked off a Latin American tour on Friday in Santiago, Chile, that will run through an October 26 concert in Mexico City. At least he'll be home in time for Halloween!

Soundgarden Hoping to Inject “More Bite” into Next Studio Album
While Soundgarden hasn’t made any official plans for a follow-up to 2012’s King Animal, members of the band are confident they’ll record a new album sometime in the future.
“We don’t have plans, but we have desire and interest in making another album,” guitarist Kim Thayil tells O2 Academy TV in a video interview. Drummer Matt Cameron adds he already has an idea for the upcoming release, noting he’d like the songs to feature heavier riffs. “I think we’d like to just make…a record that’s more raw, you know, that maybe just kinda has a little more bite, more guitars,” he explains.
While we wait for new music from the guys, the group’s first record label, Sub Pop Records, has announced they’ll be reissuing the band’s long-out-of-print 1990 compilation Screaming Life/Fopp. The remastered set, which is comprised of Soundgarden’s first two EPs, includes the original ten tracks and “Sub Pop Rock City,” a cut that was originally featured on 1988’s Sub Pop 200 compilation. Screaming Life/Fopp will be available at all the usual digital outlets and on vinyl starting November 26.
According to The Pulse Of Radio, TOOL guitarist Adam Jones has revealed that he is working on a new music video from the group — for a song off its last album, 2006's "10,000 Days". During an online chat with Guitar World, Jones — who created most of TOOL's videos — was asked why he did not direct any for songs from "10,000 Days".
He replied, "We just haven't finished them yet. We ran into a really big snag because the first video is all CGI and we had some vicious production problems. The company we started with kinda screwed us, but luckily my friend's company is bailing us out. Since he's helping us, they can only work on it when their schedule is clear. But it's gonna be great. When I go home, practically all my time is spent on it." Jones added, "I thought the CGI process would be a lot easier than physically filming something, which is what we've always done in the past. But it's actually a lot harder to get action down and get it moving and looking right . . . We're also doing pre-production on the second video, which will be all stop-motion." Jones did not direct the sole video released to date from the "10,000 Days" album, for the song "Vicarious", although he has directed many of the band's creepiest and most popular clips. Jones, who worked as a visual effects artist before TOOL took off, told The Pulse Of Radio a while back how visuals have always played a major role in the band's music. "I've just always thought in vision, I mean, just, like, putting on headphones when I was a kid and trying to dream stuff while I was listening to music," he said. "I guess I still do that today when I play. But it's a lot more emotional than visual and I know that sounds pretentious, but it really is, what the four of us do. The visuals just kind of, like, bring themselves in it."
The guitarist also spoke about long-awaited plans for TOOL to make a live DVD, saying, "Yeah, we've talked about it. We had shot a bunch of live concert footage and were going to put out a DVD, but it turned out to not sit very well with our band. We were like, What can we do that's more epic than just a live DVD? I think we're just going to keep shooting stuff, and when we're ready, we'll put something out. Of course, we'd like to do something really epic, like the movie version of 'The Wall', but movie deals are really tough." Jones and the rest of the members of TOOL are reportedly working at last on the follow-up to "10,000 Days", although, as usual, information on that remains murky.

Hear Seether’s New Single, “Safe to Say I've Had Enough”
Seether’s collection of greatest hits and rare B-sides, Seether 2002-2013, won’t hit stores until October 29, but you can hear a little preview of it now. The group has just posted a stream of “Safe to Say I've Had Enough,” one of three brand-new tracks included in the compilation. Seether 2002-2013 will arrive at all the usual outlets on October 29. The set boasts 27 tracks spread out over two discs, and features a number of the band's biggest hits, including "Remedy," "Fake It" and "Country Song." The record also includes a cover of Veruca Salt's 1994 hit single, “Seether,” which is where the group gets their name.
"13 years ago when a demo of 'Needles' came roaring through our speakers and tearing down our hallways, we knew greatness was at our fingertips," said president and CEO of Wind-up Records Ed Vetriin a statement. "After an amazing young career featuring 11 number-one songs, millions of albums sold, Seether is just hitting their stride and this Greatest Hits package only represents their work so far."

Nirvana’s Krist Novoselic Says Kurt Cobain's Lyrics on In UteroAre Open to Interpretation
If you think you understand what Nirvana is singing about on the band’s third and final studio album, In Utero, think again. Bassist Krist Novoselic says late frontman Kurt Cobain was "cagy about his lyrics," leaving them open to being interpreted in different ways.
“There is imagery on [In Utero] that I would never express to people,” he tells Rolling Stone. “We're each entitled to our own interpretations. But none of them are the definitive one. He's the only one who can give that -- and he's gone. And he never gave one while he was alive.”
In addition to writing cryptic lyrics, Novoselic notes Cobain would often create artwork which he found perplexing. “He would cut out pictures of meat from grocery-store fliers, then paste these orchids on them. And all this stuff on [In Utero] about the body -- there was something about anatomy. You look at his art -- there are these people, and they're all weird, like mutants…and dolls -- creepy dolls.”
Nirvana’s 20th anniversary reissue of In Utero is available in stores now.

Korn Hoping to Make Family Values Festival an Annual Event
After a six-year hiatus, Korn will bring back their Family Values Tour, sort of -- not as a tour but as a one-night event. The show will take place October 5 at the 1st Bank Center in Denver, CO. And bassistReginald Arvizu, a.k.a. Fieldy, says the band hopes to make the event an annual occurrence, provided they can find the right time to stage it.
“I think it’s just timing really…because we’ve been touring the whole world and realizing you got Europe that have all the festivals, now the United States is picking up, so it’s placing the puzzle where you got Lollapalooza, you got Family Values hopefully once a year,” he tells ABC News Radio. “As long as it’s not in the way of anything else, that’s what we’re trying to do is just fit everything in.”
The lineup for this year’s concert will includes sets by Asking Alexandria, Hollywood Undead, Machine Gun Kelly and Beware of Darkness. Looking back on the event’s long history, Fieldy notes the Family Values concerts will always be his favorite memories about playing live.
“Twenty years of doing this I think Family Values was one of the coolest concerts I ever been to,” he explains. “We had a rotating stage and every band had mass production so you’re non-stop seeing this huge show the whole time. It’s the most entertaining concert I’ve ever seen to this day.”
Korn’s Family Values Tour originally launched in 1998 as a multi-date, multi-city rock and hip-hop package trek, and featured additional runs in 1999, 2001, 2006 and 2007. Over the years, the tour featured a variety of acts including Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Ja Rule, Method Man, Redmanand DMX, among others.

Former MEGADETH Drummer Auctioning Blood-Stained Saw Blade That Nearly Ended His Career
A gruesome power saw accident in 2007 nearly severed former MEGADETH drummer Nick Menza's arm and doctors weren't sure he'd ever play again.
After a long recuperation, which included some reconstructive metal plates and bolts that would make Dr. Frankenstein envious, Menza is back! And he's back with a memoir of outrageous experiences, including his "heinous mishap," as he calls it, in the upcoming book "Megalife: Countdown To Resurrection", by J. Marshall Craig.
To celebrate in the best truly heavy tradition, Menza is offering for one lucky superfan a once-in-a-lifetime rock 'n' roll artifact: the blood-stained, rusty saw blade that nearly chewed through his arm, and the original x-ray of the injuries framed behind museum-quality glass, metal frame, led lighting system and personally autographed to the winning bidder!
The auction is scheduled to launch on October 25 at 3 p.m. PST via www.menzajamz.com.
For more information, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Says Menza: "It's Halloween, dude! I have my book coming out, I'm headlining a new South American tour.
"Let's have some fun!
"This stuff has been on one of the walls in my studio since the accident.
"I'm starting a new chapter of my life and career, literally, and it's time to move on from some of that stuff in my past, but the saw blade and x-ray are pretty rad!"
Only one fan will get the blade and x-ray but everyone who buys "Megalife" will get to read about the harrowing experience, the remarkable recovery including the first session Nick recorded after using only one arm! And dozens of other great stories sure to test their heavy meddle! Menza recently teamed up with Logan Gray (a.k.a. Thrash Wolf), the up-and-coming Australian graphic artist, who has created a 18 x 35 poster of the saw blade artifact, which you could now pre-order for limited time only via Bigcartel.
ROB ZOMBIE Gets Behind Puppy Rescue Mission
During the Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival tour this past summer, each act worked with a veterans charity and Rob Zombie chose the Puppy Rescue Mission. According to The Pulse Of Radio, Zombie explained to Radio.com, "A lot of soldiers in Afghanistan would find these dogs and bond with them and sneak them on the bases, even though they weren't supposed to have them. It was probably the only moment of sanity for these guys, when they spent time with them."
Zombie added, "Some of the stories I've heard are horrible: people would torture these dogs, and kill them for fun. These guys saved these dogs, and really bonded with them. But they weren't allowed to take them home, and if they could, it was so expensive. That was a cause I could really understand and get behind. Imagine being that far from home and bonding with a dog and then being told to just leave him there and then get on a plane to go home. No way!" Zombie will next co-headline the "Night Of The Living Dreads" tour with KORN. The 17-date run begins on November 3 in Reno, Nevada and wraps on November 26 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
He is also gearing up for the opening of his "Great American Nightmare" Halloween music and horror event, set to begin on October 10. The event will be held every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday through November 2 at FEARPlex in Pomona, California with 15 nights of music, culminating with a November 2 headlining performance by Zombie himself.
The centerpiece will be one of the most advanced haunted house attractions in the world, with three separate areas each named after a film directed by Zombie. Zombie is also prepping to direct his next film, "Broad Street Bullies", which will tell the story of the notorious Philadelphia Flyers hockey team of the mid-'70s. Zombie said, "I was always a huge hockey fan. I wanted to be a pro hockey player before I even knew there was music. I was a diehard Bruins fan." Zombie added that he has another movie in the works as well, which is also not a horror film like his five previous efforts.

Dream Theater also scored their third top-10 album on the list this week. The group’s self-titled twelfth studio effort came in at #7 on chart, with 34,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Meanwhile, the soundtrack to Metallica’s 3D concert film, Metallica Through the Never, debuted at #9 on the Billboard 200, with 26,000 copies sold. The live compilation is the band’s ninth release to debut in the top 10 on the list. Before Metallica Through the Never (Music from the Motion Picture), the last album Metallica had on the list was their previous record, 2008’s Death Magnetic, which debuted in the #1 slot, with 490,000 copies sold its first week out.

Documentary About the 12-12-12 Sandy Relief Concert to Get Theatrical Premiere in NYC and L.A.
The new documentary about the historic, star-studded benefit concert for the victims of Hurricane Sandy, held last December at New York City's Madison Square Garden, will gets its theatrical release in New York City and Los Angeles in the coming month. The film, titled 12-12-12, offers a behind-the-scenes look at how the musical extravaganza came together, as well as featuring highlights from the show, which took place on December 12, 2012.
The concert's jaw-dropping lineup included Paul McCartney, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel and Bon Jovi. The event also featured a number of surprise onstage collaborations, such as McCartney performing with the surviving members of Nirvana, Pink Floyd's Roger Waters duetting with Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder and Coldplay's Chris Martin teaming up with R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe. The show ended up raising more than $50 million for theRobin Hood Foundation, which distributed the funds to those affected by the devastating storm. Proceeds raised by the movie also will go to the organization.
A special premiere event is scheduled to take place on October 28 -- the eve of the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Sandy hitting the Tri-State area -- at the Ziegfeld Theater in New York City. Many of the performers who participated in the 12-12-12 concert, as well as people hit hard by the hurricane, will be invited to attend. Public screenings of the movie will begin on November 1 in New York and L.A.
Jim Dolan, Harvey Weinstein and John Sykes, the benefit show's producers, said in a joint statement, "12-12-12 was one of the most remarkable events Madison Square Garden has hosted in its 134-year history…but if you thought the concert was wild, wait until you see what happened backstage that night. This film takes you behind the walls of Madison Square Garden and into the production areas and dressing rooms of the biggest recording artists in the world to see firsthand how a massive event like 12-12-12 was created."
McCartney is one of the executive producers of the 12-12-12 documentary, which was first shown last month at the Toronto International Film Festival.
DETHKLOK's 'Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem A Klok Opera' Coming This Month
Created by Brendon Small, the animated one-hour special "Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem A Klok Opera" airs Sunday, October 27 at midnight (ET/PT) on Adult Swim. This once-in-a-lifetime DETHKLOK experience includes special guests Jack Black, Mark Hamill, Malcolm McDowell, and CANNIBAL CORPSE's George "Corpsegrinder" Fisher.
In "Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem A Klok Opera", we pick up directly after the abduction of DETHKLOK guitarist Toki Wartooth in the season four finale. With his life in danger, his only salvation can come from the four most selfish human celebrities on Earth — his bandmates, extreme metal band DETHKLOK. Will they be able to get past their own egos to help someone besides themselves? Find out in this one-hour heavy metal rock opera special with a completely original score.
The original score from "Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem A Klok Opera" will be released as a full-length album on October 29. And this isn’t just your average metal record — this is a full-blown musical featuring a fifty-piece orchestra. This full-length album features the bonus DETHKLOK single "Blazing Star" and orchestral movements (produced by Brendon Small and Emmy-winning composer Bear McCreary ("Battlestar Galactica", "Walking Dead"). Also included with the album will be a bonus "making-of" featurette with executive producer/creator/writer/musician Brendon Small and cast/musicians.
Legendary powerhouse metal drummer Gene Hoglan returns to join Brendon and DETHKLOK. Other musicians include bassist Bryan Beller (DETHKLOK, THE ARISTOCRATS, Joe Satriani), and Mike Keneally (DETHKLOK, Frank Zappa, Joe Satriani).
Says Small: "This is not like anything we've ever done. This is a full-blown musical — metal combined with symphonic passages, classic musical theatre, high-stakes drama, emotional moments, and yes, totally ridiculous comedy.
"I drew from all of my influences to make this the most unique project I could dream of.
"This is easily the best thing we've ever done with the show and the music. I can't wait for you to hear it."
States McCreary: "I have been a fan of 'Metalocalypse' for many years, and I am fortunate to call Brendon Small my friend. 'Metalocalypse: The Doomstar Requiem A Klok Opera' provided us the opportunity to collaborate that we'd always been looking for.
"I had a blast helping Brendon realize his vision for a fully-produced orchestral score to accompany his drop-tuned guitars and pounding double kicks. This opera takes his catchy songwriting to a whole new level, and I was thrilled to help out."
LINKIN PARK Members Speak Out On Singer Joining STONE TEMPLE PILOTS
For months one of the biggest stories in rock has been STONE TEMPLE PILOTS firing singer Scott Weiland and replacing him with LINKIN PARK's Chester Bennington. While STP, Bennington and even Weiland have all spoken out about the lineup change, the other members of LINKIN PARK are only now starting to talk. The Pulse Of Radio asked frontman Mike Shinoda how Bennington has handled the situation with his bandmates. "He's been so awesome about it," he said. "I mean, he asked us for our blessing before he did anything. You know, he sent the nicest e-mails back while he was out there on the road. He was so inspired to do that tour with them and to record some music with them. Chester has always loved that music and loved all those guys, so it was a really fun thing for him to do."
LINKIN PARK DJ Joe Hahn told Rolling Stone, "In high school we grew up listening to STONE TEMPLE PILOTS. For us these are the deities of rock. They're up there, so if someone asks you to do that, you just do it. Chester is such a great singer and for him to have the opportunity to go and sing with other people, we're appreciative of them for asking Chester to do it." Hahn added, "[Chester's] definitely a person that has a lot of stuff inside of him, and you can tell by watching him perform it's there and it needs to come out. You can't do that on one album — those 12 songs in two years." Bennington just completed his first tour with STP and will make his recording debut with the group on an upcoming EP, "High Rise", which is due out on October 8.
Meanwhile, LINKIN PARK recently released a collaborative track with electronic artist Steve Aoki called "A Light That Never Comes". The tune is taken from the new video game, LP Recharge, which features characters and missions designed by the band. "A Light That Never Comes" is set to appear on LINKIN PARK's upcoming new remix album, "Recharged", which is out October 29. The disc will feature new remixes of tracks from the band's last record, 2012's "Living Things".

Alter Bridge Says European Fans Inspired Fortress to Be a “Heavier Record”
It appears we have Alter Bridge’s European fans to thank for the group’s heavier sound on the upcoming album, Fortress. Guitarist Mark Tremonti says the band decided to explore some new creative avenues after making appearances at a number of festivals overseas.
“When me and Myles were putting it together, we wanted to make sure the album was fun to play, so fun equals heavy in our world,” he tells ABC News Radio. “Most of the record turned out to be a heavier record, and I think a lot of it has to do with our European fan base. We’ve done these festivals and all these shows and every time we play a heavy song, crowd goes wild.”
While some fans may be concerned about Alter Bridge adopting heavier riffs, Tremonti notes it’s healthy for a band to experiment with its signature sound. “It’s not such a departure that people will be afraid of the record, and not like Alter Bridge anymore,” he explains. “I think it just shows a natural progression of the band and…we’re just trying to keep growing and not just keep regurgitating the same old thing.” Fortress will arrive in stores on October 8. Alter Bridge will celebrate the record’s release with their only scheduled US concert on October 4 at the House of Blues in Orlando, FL. Shortly after, the group will go on an extensive European tour that runs from October 16-November 16, with Shinedown andHalestorm supporting the band on select dates.

"But it wasn't until a few months later, when [frontman] Billie Joe Armstrong opened up and invited us into the private recording studios of Green Day, that we really got to see inside the process by which Billie Joe, [bassist] Mike[Dirnt] and [drummer] Tré [Cool] create the Green Day sound." Linkin Park’s Joe Hahn Says Chester Bennington’s Songwriting Influenced by Working with STP
It appears Stone Temple Pilots aren’t the only ones benefiting from Chester Bennington recent work with the band. Linkin Park DJ Joe Hahn says working on new music with STP has inspired the singer to create some killer new tracks for LP’s next studio album.
“Especially recently, Chester's songwriting has been incredible,” he tells Rolling Stone. “For him to flex that [songwriting muscle] with Stone Temple Pilots…he's definitely a person that has a lot of stuff inside of him, and you can tell by watching him perform it's there and it needs to come out.”
Hahn adds everyone in Linkin Park has enjoyed STP’s music since they were in high school, and they fully support Bennington’s work with the group. “Chester is such a great singer and for him to have the opportunity to go and sing with other people, we're appreciative of them for asking Chester to do it,” he explains. “I think on a spiritual level it works in so many ways, where it's not even about there being a benefit, it's just something that feels right, especially for Chester.”
In other Linkin Park news, the band will release Recharged, an album which features new interpretations of songs from 2012's Living Things, on October 29.
KORN: Behind The Scenes Of REVOLVER Magazine Cover Shoot
KORN recently took part in a photo shoot for the cover of the October/November issue of Revolver magazine. The issue features a seven-page spread on KORN and notes the band's reunion with founding guitarist Brian "Head" Welch has "led to their best album in a decade."
Video footage of KORN guitarist James "Munky" Shaffer and drummer Ray Luzier talking about the Revolver cover shoot can be seen below. KORN will be inducted into Guitar Center's RockWalk on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California on October 8, the same day that the band releases its 11th album, "The Paradigm Shift". KORN frontman Jonathan Davis said, "When you look at the names of the other people inducted here all you can say is 'Wow!' What an honor!" Shaffer added, "When we started out we were five guys in a garage with a dream. I'd like to think we tried our best to create some great music and an innovative sound but to be honest we are truly humbled to be included here."
RockWalk chairman Dave Weiderman said, "KORN is about as innovative and influential as they come. They have been purveyors of metal's progression since their formation, and are even credited with creating the nu metal subgenre. For these reasons, and many more, KORN is exactly the type of band the RockWalk is here to honor." The Pulse Of Radio asked Welch what the most important thing would be that he would advise young musicians about being in a rock band. "You've got to get it in your head and your heart right now that you being this musician, it's not for you. It's for the fans," he said. "If you want to go out there and play onstage for a living, you are giving your life for your fans. And it's not about them worshiping you, it's about you giving a gift to them that they can appreciate. And once you make it about you, you're gonna start to shake and you're gonna break down and fall." KORN kicked off a new North American tour last week and plays Monday night (September 30) in Toronto.
After this, KORN and ROB ZOMBIE will co-headline the "Night Of The Living Dreads" tour this fall. The 17-date run begins on November 3 in Reno, Nevada and wraps on November 26 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.

KORN: Footage Of Tour Rehearsals
Video footage of KORN getting ready for their first tour with original guitarist Brian "Head" Welch back in the band after an eight-year hiatus can be seen below. KORN will be inducted into Guitar Center's RockWalk on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California on October 8, the same day that the band releases its 11th album, "The Paradigm Shift".
KORN kicked off a new North American tour last week and plays Monday night (September 30) in Toronto.
After this, KORN and ROB ZOMBIE will co-headline the "Night Of The Living Dreads" tour this fall. The 17-date run begins on November 3 in Reno, Nevada and wraps on November 26 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
In an interview with AltSounds, KORN singer Jonathan Davis was asked if "The Paradigm Shift" was the band's way of trying to appease KORN's hardcore fans after the dubstep influence on the last CD. "We wanted to do what we do best," he said. "Yes, we love our fans, but we're not trying to make the same record over and over. Sure, when we write certain parts we say to each other, 'The fans are gonna go crazy here,' but the fans that are the most vocal about it, if we paid attention to that all the time, we'd just be making the same thing over and over."
Speaking about Welch's return to the group, Davis said: "It was good to have him back, and it opened up the opportunity for Head and Munky to do what they're so good at. You know, playing off each other. So, it just clicked as if no time had passed. It was great to have our brother back again. With him being back and everything… it really worked."
Book Excerpt Details Ugly Split Between OZZY And SHARON OSBOURNE
According to The Pulse Of Radio, an excerpt from Sharon Osbourne's new memoir that was published by U.K. tabloid The Sun over the weekend reveals just how ugly it got between her and Ozzy earlier this year when Sharon found out that her husband of 30 years had relapsed into drug and alcohol abuse.
Sharon writes that she found out about the BLACK SABBATH singer's drug abuse on their 30th wedding anniversary when she saw texts on Ozzy's phone asking people to supply him with drugs and and saying, "Don't tell the old girl." Sharon confronted Ozzy and he promised to go to rehab, but ended up fleeing to the U.K. instead. Sharon retaliated by selling off all of Ozzy's prized cars, recalling. "There was no way I was going to risk him getting in one of them while he was drunk and hurting someone . . . Ozzy says now that it proved to be the most expensive drink he's ever had."
When the couple reunited in Los Angeles a few weeks later, Ozzy was so "cocky and arrogant" that Sharon says she "snapped," demanding a divorce and asking for 100,000 British pounds — around $162,000 — a month in spousal support. Sharon writes that when Ozzy replied, "Over my dead body," she threw a cup of coffee at his head, adding, "Then I grabbed him and pulled at his precious hair with one hand, while trying to yank off his jewelry with the other. He went for me, trying to grab me in a headlock." Ozzy told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that despite critics always saying that Sharon controlled his career and life, the truth was in fact the opposite: "My wife does not get involved with telling me about working. I tried retirement, it sucked. If I don't want to do anything, my wife can't make me do anything I don't want to do."
The estranged couple met up again in May after Ozzy had finally gone to rehab and was sober for two months. Sharon writes, "It seemed like forever since I'd looked into my husband's eyes, but now I was looking into sober eyes. The man I loved was present. I could tell he was relieved to be sitting next to me. I put my hand on his, took him in my arms and we cried."
The couple moved back in together in June. Sharon's book, called "Unbreakable", is due out this month. BLACK SABBATH wrapped up a North American tour last month in support of its reunion album, "13", and will tour the U.K. in December.
