KORN's JONATHAN DAVIS: Upcoming CD Is 'By Far The Best Album We Have Ever Done'
KORN has completed work on its 11th studio CD and first with founding guitarist Brian "Head" Welch back in the fold since 2003's "Take A Look In The Mirror". The band's lead singer, Jonathan Davis, writes onTwitter: "[This is] by far the best album we have ever done. [I am] so excited!!!"
Welch told Rolling Stone, "We knew we would have a blast playing together, because we love each other so much, but we really wanted to make sure the music felt right before we committed to making a whole album together. But since we got in the studio, everything just started pouring out, now I can't wait until our fans hear this stuff!"
Davis told The Pulse Of Radio he never felt completely comfortable without Welch in the group. "He's like my other half, you know," he said. "I got Munky here and I got, I always had Head there. It's always been missing something. I mean, we'd been doing fine, we've had guitar players come in and everything, but you know, there's that magic, you know what I mean?"
The band made Welch's return to the studio official with a new video posted online.
The new KORN set is due out in late summer and will follow up 2011's"The Path Of Totality", which found the group experimenting with dubstep.
The new record will feature four-fifths of the original KORN lineup, with only founding drummer David Silveria not on board.
KORN will kick off a world tour on May 15 in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. This will be Welch's first full run of dates with the band after playing one song with them last year at the Carolina Rebellion festival.
SHINEDOWN Singer: How I Lost 70 Pounds
Brent Smith, lead singer of the American hard rock band SHINEDOWN, discovered the Insanity workout with Shaun T. and lost 70 pounds.
In 2011, Smith weighed 222 pounds and was really out of shape. He made a decision to get in shape when he saw the Insanity infomercial late one night with Shaun T., Brent not only lost the excess weight but also went from 36% to 12% body fat and is now in the best shape of his life!
Smith has completed Insanity four or five times and has even encouraged fellow SHINEDOWN band members to "Dig Deep" when they're on tour with the Insanity workouts.
Smith is now trim and ready to go. He says he has been singing better than ever and he feels he's a better performer. The band is stronger than they have ever been.
According to The Pulse Of Radio, Smith opened up in a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times about his four-year struggle with substance abuse that ended with him quitting cocaine, painkillers and alcohol and losing 70 pounds in the process. Smith said that the final straws were a warning from his girlfriend and an insult about his girth on national television. Smith explained, "I've toured for over 12 years, and for the first two records I was addicted to cocaine, OxyContin and alcohol. The coke and Oxy kept my weight down. But for the third album I quit the opiates and started to crave sugar. I was still drinking a lot of alcohol and started to pack on the pounds."
SHINEDOWN appeared on the "Today" show in 2009, where host Kathie Lee Gifford said, "At first I thought he was Meat Loaf."
Smith recalled, "It really stung. I'm a fan of Meat Loaf but she wasn't talking about a musical comparison. My heart kind of fell on the ground — it was like the performance didn't even matter."
Next was an ultimatum from his girlfriend, with Smith revealing, "Teresasat me down on the first of November last year and said, 'Listen to me, I love you and I'm not going anywhere, but this lifestyle that you're leading is not going to work."
Teresa sent Smith, who weighed 222 pounds at the time, to a trainer. He added, "I felt like I'd been in a death spiral, and I realized I needed to be healthy and strong for my family. I have a four-year-old boy, and he was a huge motivation, and so were the fans. I had an epiphany working out with my trainer that day, and I haven't had a drink since."
Smith's trainer cleaned up his diet and worked out a fitness program that he could do on the road. The singer said, "I look completely different on stage now. The stamina I have in my lungs is so much better. I don't have to wear a big jacket to cover the fat and get overheated. It's amazing how much clarity I have and how my body feels so much better — health is such a big part of who I am now."
SHINEDOWN's fourth album, "Amaryllis", came out last year and hit No. 4 on the Billboard chart.
Puddle of Mudd’s Wes Scantlin Arrested for Suspected Domestic Violence
For the second time in two weeks, Wes Scantlin has found himself in the back of a police car. The Puddle of Mudd singer was arrested on Monday afternoon for allegedly roughing up his ex-wife, according to TMZ.

One source tells TMZ that Scantlin was “extremely uncooperative” and “very mouthy” during his arrest. He is currently being held on $20,000 bail.
The incident occurred less than one week after the singer was arrested in Hollywood last Tuesday night after police discovered he had outstanding warrants.

Billy Corgan Asks California Pizza Kitchen to Help End Practice of Dehorning Calves
Billy Corgan has teamed up with the animal rights group People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals to ask California Pizza Kitchen to join their fight to protect baby cows. The Smashing Pumpkins frontman has written a letter to CPK’s president and CEO, G.J. Hart, asking the restaurant chain to insist that their dairy suppliers begin phasing out dehorning calves, a process that they feel causes unnecessary suffering.
“I have viewed the photos and watched PETA's investigative video of these [dehorning] procedures, and I was appalled to see young calves who struggled and writhed in pain as searing hot irons burned their heads,” Corgan writes. “The industry has noted that the burns are so severe that they may damage the underlying bone. Other practices, which include using caustic chemicals to eat away at the horn-bud flesh via a chemical burn, are no better.”
Corgan adds that CPK should demand that all their dairy suppliers begin to breed “naturally hornless” cattle, which will eliminate the need to dehorn calves.
