KORN has set a September 24 release date for its 11th studio album, the first to feature founding guitarist Brian "Head" Welch since 2003's "Take A Look In The Mirror".
Drummer Ray Luzier revealed the release date while sharing a photo of himself and his bandmates via an Instagram post with the caption: "Korn press Konference in France, we played them parts of 2 new songs off our SIC new record coming out Sept 24th. #korntour2013 #kornfans #korn #korn2013 #fieldy #brianheadwelch #munky #jdevil."
Video footage of KORN's June 22 press conference at Hellfest in Clisson, France can be seen below.
With singer Jonathan Davis saying not long ago that he thinks the new disc is the best KORN has ever done, The Pulse Of Radio asked KORNguitarist James "Munky" Shaffer for his assessment. "It's heavy metal with lots of melody," he said. "Jonathan's lyrics are — the way he elaborates and articulates on different subjects, his melodies are so killer. I can't wait for people to hear it."
The new KORN set will follow up 2011's "The Path Of Totality", which found the group experimenting with dubstep.
Welch left the band in 2005 to pursue a solo career and devote more of his life to Christianity, but rejoined them for one gig last year and several more in 2013, leading to plans to record together again.
KORN kicked off a world tour last month with a round of dates in the U.S. and is now on tour in Europe for a large chunk of this month and July This is Welch's first full run of dates with the band after playing one song with them last year at the Carolina Rebellion festival.
MARILYN MANSON Guitarist TWIGGY RAMIREZ Talks 'Born Villain', Future Projects
TheToneKing.com's Metal Marion recently spoke to MARILYN MANSON guitarist Twiggy Ramirez (real name: Jeordie White) about the band's latest album, "Born Villain", future projects, lost tattoos and inspiration. You can now watch the chat below.
Marilyn Manson and Alice Cooper have teamed up for "Masters Of Madness" through June 28. Following recent pairings of Alice with Rob Zombie and then Rob Zombie with Manson, this combination of Alice Cooper and Marilyn Manson has been long awaited by fans of both artists.
Marilyn Manson's most recent full-length album, "Born Villain", his eighth overall, debuted in the Top 10 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD earned Manson his fourth Grammy nomination at the 2013 Grammys in the Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance" category for the album's lead single, "No Reflection".
Manson's last U.S. tour was the "Twins Of Evil" run with Rob Zombie, a bill that looked good on paper but which did not go smoothly, leading to some verbal exchanges between the two shock rockers onstage.
Middle Class Rut Says “Aunt Betty” Was Inspired by “Weird Spirit”
Middle Class Rut continues to get serious love on the active and alternative charts thanks to “Aunt Betty,” the first single from their recently-released debut album, Pick Up Your Head. Frontman/guitarist Zack Lopez says that while he has an Aunt Betty in his family, the track wasn’t inspired by her.
“She’s been around for a few years,” he tells ABC News Radio. “Never in a million years would I have thought I’d see the name Aunt Betty plastered on CDs and posters, so it’s pretty bizarre in that sense, but…she’s always shown up in our lives here and there. She’s just this constant weird spirit that floats with us.”
Drummer Sean Stockham adds that the song came together spontaneously, as did all the cuts the group created for Pick Up Your Head. “These songs were written over the course of a year and a half,” he explains. “Similar to our first record, a lot of these songs accidentally became the record. I don’t think anybody ever sat down and said, 'Okay I’m writing this for the next album.' [Zack] just was just writing all this crazy stuff that really didn’t sound like our band, some of it.”
Middle Class Rut is currently out on a headlining tour to promote Pick Up Your Head. If you miss your chance to see them on that outing, you’ll get another opportunity when the group hits the road with Alice in Chains, Jane’s Addiction, Coheed and Cambria andDanko Jones for this year’s installment of the Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival. That traveling festival kicks off on August 9 at the Toyota Pavilion at Montage Mountain in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Visit RockstarUproar.com to view the full itinerary.

Metallica's Lars Ulrich on Next Album: "We'll Get There"
For a few years now, Metallica fans have been waiting patiently for news about the group's follow-up to 2008's Death Magnetic. Drummer Lars Ulrich says that while he sympathizes with fans, the band isn't going to rush to get the new album out there anytime soon.
"I understand there are people waiting for a new record, and so are we," he tells Rolling Stone. "But I can't stress about it. It's not like, 'F**k, hurry up and get this record out.' Hurry up for what? So we can go play gigs? We already play gigs. We'll get there." Ulrich notes that the guys have "nearly 600 song ideas" ready for the upcoming release, which they developed during rehearsals earlier this year.
The next big thing coming up for Metallica will be the band's 3D concert film, Through the Never, which will premiere exclusively at every IMAX theater across North America for a full week starting September 27. After the flick has its run in the IMAX theaters, it will expand into additional theaters starting October 4.
