Guitarist Chris Shiflett says that Foo Fighters are back in the studio working on their follow-up to 2011’s Grammy-winning album, Wasting Light.
"We actually just started making a new Foo Fighters record within the last few weeks," he tells Rolling Stone. "We've started rehearsing."
Back in October of last year, frontman Dave Grohl announced that the band would be going on an indefinite hiatus. Shiflett adds while that he expected the band to take a much longer break, he’s happy to be back making new music with the Foos.
"It was a very short hiatus," he notes. "We're going to start recording the new Foo Fighter record at the beginning of next year."

Jane’s Addiction Goes Searching for Love in Lyric Video for “Another Soulmate”
Jane’s Addiction explores the world of online dating in the new lyric video for their recently-released track, “Another Soulmate.”
The three-minute clip features the song's lyrics flashing across the screen, accompanied by humorous photos of online daters -- including images of band members. Each picture also features a short blurb about the daters or what they’re looking for in a mate. For example, a snapshot of frontman Perry Ferrell’s smiling face features the caption, “I’ve been committed to an asylum -- but talked my way out of it,” while a photo of guitarist Dave Navarro sports the blurb, “I know every sexual position -- and like to try them all in one night.”
You’ll get your chance to hear the new single performed live if you attend this year’s Rockstar Energy Uproar Festival. The trek, which kicked off earlier this month, features sets by Jane’s Addiction, Alice in Chains, Coheed and Cambria and Danko Jones. Visit RockstarUproar.com to view the full itinerary.

Listen to Pearl Jam/Soundgarden Drummer Matt Cameron’s New Side Project, DRUMGASM
It's called DRUMGASM. That's the new side project from Pearl Jam/Soundgardendrummer Matt Cameron, along with Death Grips/HelladrummerZach Hill and Sleater-Kinney/Wild Flag drummer Janet Weiss. And now you can hear their entire self-titled album on SPIN.com.
Weiss says that she came up with the concept for the album, which features all three drummers playing together at the same time. “I would say friendship and mutual admiration was the genesis,” she tells SPIN. “I just came up with the idea: What if we just rented a studio for a weekend? We didn't have any plan as to what was gonna happen.”
She adds that the recording sessions were fruitful as the band had amassed a number of lengthy takes by the time they parted ways. “We ended up playing for these long improv pieces,” she explains. “Some were 20 minutes, some were 30 minutes, some were 40 minutes.”
Weiss notes that she hopes the group will hit the road to promote the release sometime soon. “My dream is to go on tour and play some of this stuff live,” she notes. “We would have a great time. That's my dream tour.”
You can pre-order DRUMGASM’s self-titled release now on vinyl at JackpotRecords.com. The record will run you $14.99 and comes with a free download card so you can enjoy the tracks on your digital devices, too.
