Singer Ivan Moody told The Pulse Of Radio that the band turned down tour offers last year to instead focus on making the new record. "The thought process was, get it while it's hot," he said. "You know, we love what we do, man, and I don't want to be one of those bands that we write an album, tour for two years and then take a year and a half off. That's not what I'm about and we're not getting any younger. It just seemed like the logical thing to do — get back in, really get to the grind, and now that we get to go back and co-headline with ROB ZOMBIE onMayhem Festival this summer, it all kind of ironed itself out."
The deluxe edition of "The Wrong Side Of Heaven And The Righteous Side Of Hell Volume 1" will come with a bonus 15-track live CD titled"Purgatory (Tales From The Pit)", plus a redeemable limited-edition T-shirt.
A box set limited edition is now available for pre-order at the band's webstore. It contains the deluxe version of the album with the bonus live CD, an early free download of an exclusive new track, a FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH lunch box and assorted other collectible items.
The album features guest appearances from IN THIS MOMENT singerMaria Brink, SOULFLY frontman Max Cavalera, HATEBREED vocalistJamey Jasta and JUDAS PRIEST singer Rob Halford, who contributes to the first single, "Lift Me Up".
FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH will co-headline the 2013 Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival this summer alongside ROB ZOMBIE, with the tour kicking off in San Bernardino, California on June 29.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD: New Album Title, Cover Artwork, Release Date Revealed
AVENGED SEVENFOLD will release its sixth studio album, "Hail To The King", on August 27. The title and the cover artwork (see below) were uncovered via an online scavenger hunt that led fans to different web sites that were hosting puzzle pieces.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD will celebrate the album release by playing a free show at the Hollywood Palladium on August 26.
The new disc was once again produced by Mike Elizondo and will follow up 2010's "Nightmare", which earned the band its first No. 1 album on The Billboard 200 chart.
AVENGED SEVENFOLD frontman M. Shadows last year hinted at the direction of the band's next studio LP, telling Metal Hammer that it will not sound like "Carry On", the group's contribution to the video game"Call Of Duty: Black Ops II". Shadows explained, "The new album has a lot more of a [BLACK] SABBATH / [LED] ZEPPELIN feel to it than 'Carry On'. There's definitely more SABBATH in what we're writing, and we're proud of 'Carry On', but this album is going to be on a whole new level."
The new CD is the first to be wholly written without drummer and key songwriter James "The Rev" Sullivan, who died in December 2009.Shadows told The Pulse Of Radio that didn't stop the band from deciding to take a different direction. "We had a decision to make on this one," he said. "The decision was, okay, do we just make a record that everyone expects us to make, or do we just move forward and make another, different record that we feel more comfortable with, and we chose the latter. So right now we're looking forward to doing something new and exciting and fresh, and hopefully people give it a shot and like it."
NEWSTED Says 'St. Anger' And 'Death Magnetic' Are Not METALLICA's Best-Sounding Records
Darko Zivkovic of the Serbian Metal Portal conducted an interview with former METALLICA, VOIVOD and FLOTSAM AND JETSAM bassist and current NEWSTED frontman Jason Newsted prior to NEWSTED's June 25 performance at Kombank Arena in Blgrade, Serbia as the support act forSLAYER. You can now listen to the chat using the SoundCloud widget below.
Asked if he has ever heard the two METALLICA albums that were recorded after his departure from the band — 2003's "St. Anger" and 2008's "Death Magnetic" — and what his opinion was of them, Jasonsaid: "I heard 'St. Anger' one time — really, literally. My wife, who at the time was my girlfriend, got the record, or actually had someone get the record for us when we were on tour with Ozzy [Osbourne]. And she got the record the day it came out. She [played] about seven tracks and took it off, and that's the only time I really ever heard it. I watched the video — the one they did in a prison [for the 'St. Anger' title track] — so I saw that a couple of times and I heard that song a couple of times. But I won't speak anything ill of METALLICA, because… you know what I mean?!"
He continued: "Are they the best-sounding records they've ever made? No. But 'Death Magnetic', I think, has some juice. I think it shows that they've still got it.
"I did see them play one of their new songs on the TV, on the [BBCtelevision show 'Later... With Jools Holland'] a couple of years ago. And I don't know what the name of the song was. It was, like, a seven-minute song. It was fuckin', 'Whoa!' And I just stood up in my living room when they were done, and I was [cheering them].
"I'm a fan of METALLICA, so that's kind of the way it is. But 'Master Of Puppets' is the shit for me."

Stone Gossard Says He Has No Plans to Tour in Support of Moonlander
If you’re hoping to see Stone Gossard out on the road performing tracks from his recently released second solo album, Moonlander, it doesn’t look good for you. The Pearl Jam guitarist says that while he’s happy that the album is released, he’s doesn’t expect to put together a tour to promote it anytime soon.
"I don't have any plans to do any dates,” he tells Rolling Stone. “I think that making the record is one thing but going out and playing shows is another. I may have the opportunity to do that, but I think I'm going to weigh that out as we go along."
Gossard adds that he may change his mind if he sees that Moonlander is selling well, but he feels that it’s a bit of a longshot. "I think if there's a big outcry for Moonlander live dates, I'll respond,” he notes. “If the record is climbing the charts -- I'm saying this laughing -- I think that some of that will dictate if there's an opportunity to do some songs."
